Greetings Signature Woman Readers!
Are you enjoying the fun of summer so far? I have, just by enjoying life! Often times as
women in ministry and business we get so caught up in the “doing” that we forget to
just enjoy; enjoy our families, watching a good movie, laughing and just enjoying times
of refreshment in the Lord. Martha once had to learn this same lesson when she
protested her sister Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus (Luke 10:38-42).
Are you endlessly working yourself into a frenzy and nervous mess? Work will always
be there so why not take time and kick your feet up? I took time from a lot of other
tasks earlier this year to focus on only two projects. What a relief it was to put down a
number of burdensome obligations. Once we take a step back to refresh, rethink and
renew we will come to realize that we no longer want be in the rat race. Here is our
new rat race: social media and blog posts, recording videos, writing books, creating products, managing projects
and taking endless telephone calls. In addition we are trying to pull together the next big ministry event.
I’ve been seeing a trend of burnout among many popular ministry and business leaders who have been
transparent with their readers saying, “Enough is enough.” These leaders are no longer willing to be in an endless
grind feeling that they have left their first love, Jesus, in pursuit of having a successful business. All their efforts
have created a feeling of lack of purpose in them. Now with God’s leading they are pruning business related
activities from their lives and have begun to renew themselves in the Lord and take time off to enjoy life.
Are you in the rat race? Are you are running on empty? Take time this summer to Refresh, Rethink, Renew and
then you will experience the new things that God wants to do in and through you. This is your summer to enjoy
sitting at the feet of Jesus, like Mary—and while you are at it enjoy an ice cream cone too!

Refresh, Renew & Rethink I recently watched a documentary that asked secular Jews to describe their feelings about Christianity. One
commenter said "The idea of taking one God for one particular people and opening that religion up for the entire
world is interesting." Speaking of what Jesus and Paul had taught.
Jesus had a fresh take on Judaism; it was interesting to say the least. We can become God's people via faith and
become children via the spirit of adoption and ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:11-21 and Romans 8:15).
It was Earth changing theology—that faith alone can open up access to God. It was completely new for his day
and it actually got him killed.
I invite you to rethink what you think you know about God.
Many of us are treating God like our fallen parents.
For example, remember when you were a little girl and you really wanted some soda. You spent all afternoon
thinking about that soda. But you came home with a less than perfect report card. What did you do? You let your
parent process, you let them discipline and you didn't dare ask for the soda you really wanted. You let things tide
over. A few days later or even the next night if it wasn't too awkward you'd finally ask for that soda. You either got
it or you are told your poor behavior meant you couldn’t have any soda.
That same mentality and trained behavioral response is what we're doing to God. When we are less than perfect
we don't ask for what we really want or need. We think God is mad at us and doesn't want to bless us. We think
grace is limited in its atonement ability to restore us to a right position with God...an asking position.
It's time to rethink God. You are human, your parents are/were human and your Father in Heaven is NOT human.
We can't deal with God the same way we dealt with our "evil" human parents (Luke 11:13).
Imagine a relationship with God in which you were renewed and fully please Him in word, deed and heart? What
would you do differently? How would your times of prayer change? Well then let the change begin!
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom
also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
—Romans 5:1-2

Sunday (The New Saturday)
When did Sunday become the new
Saturday? In other words, when did church become
optional? How have our lives become so busy? On
Sunday mornings when I look around and see the
lack of people in church, it is disheartening.
Numbers don’t make a church, but committed
people do. So again, I pose the question – when did
Sunday become the new Saturday? A lot of people
have adopted the mind set of “If I have absolutely
nothing else to do, and I just happen to wake up on
time, I may go to church.” What a sad state to be in.
We’re not doing God any favors by going to church.
Our Heavenly Father sent his son to die a brutal
death on a cross. How do we say thanks – by
showing up occasionally to church. There was a time
when church wasn’t optional for many of us growing
up. I had to realize that chances are my children’s
walk will probably resemble my walk. As a result,
church attendance isn’t optional for them. My hope
is they will adopt the same mindset and not make it
optional for their families.
Let’s remember the real reason for
attending church – to obtain knowledge about our
Lord and savior which leads to spiritual growth,
knowing what to do during the tough times, and
knowing how to help others during their tough
times. I’ve heard many people say “if you don’t
deposit anything, you can’t withdraw anything.”
Those deposits come when you attend church
regularly and hear the word of God. Your focus
should be to attend church, learn something, use it
throughout the week, and then build on it the next
Sunday. Then Repeat!
Hebrews 10:25 - And let us not neglect our meeting
together, as some people do, but encourage one
another, especially now that the day of his return is
drawing near.
Don’t be fooled the word says in 1 Peter 5:8
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the
devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking
for someone to devour. Not attending church is
basically placing a big target on your back for the
devil. All it takes is getting committed. In turn, your
families become committed, and your lives change
for the better. Don’t allow your family, friends, and
coworkers to think for one moment that church is an
optional addition to your week if and only if you
don’t have anything else to do. If you’re not being
fed at your church, find one where you will be fed.
Regardless, there is no excuse for not regularly
attending church. Otherwise, your Christian walk will
be negatively affected. It’s time to show up and
start a revolution!

Recognize the Symptoms
1. Your time with God is only about getting the next idea/inspiration for a sermon, video, blog post, workshop or conference.
2. Family time is no longer enjoyable but frustrating.
3. You have a complaining spirit. You complain about the ministry, the people you serve (what they are and are not doing) and you complain about the level of ministry success you think you should be having.
4. Your home has been in a state of chaos due to your focus on ministry duties being #1 on the list.
5. The only thing you talk to your husband about is ministry/business.
6. You become increasingly negative about those you feel are doing greater things than you are and God is blessing more than you.
7. Your ministry work becomes more self-serving rather than serving out of the overflow of your relationship with the Father. You are a little energizer ministry bunny that keeps going and going. You are no longer walking in God’s will but your own.
8. Your sleeping and eating habits have worsened due to the hours you put in for ministry and stressing over ministry.
9. You lose interest in the ministry, your doubt God’s power in your life and you doubt your ability to hear Him.
MINISTRY
Are you suffering?
Find restoration and refreshment in Christ (Matthew 11:28-30)
If you need to seek a counselor.
Enjoy your life which includes family, time to yourself, cooking new
recipes, vacationing, watching funny movies, etc.

PRAYER Ministry Planting Where You Are
The bible tells us Jesus being moved with compassion
did many of things for the people of God. Jesus
opened the eyes of the blind through compassion
(Mark 10:46-52). Jesus
cleaned the leper
through compassion
(Mark 1:41).
I thank God that you
are compassionate
people. You have to be
a compassionate
person in order to care
about others enough
to love and pray for
them until change
takes place in their lives.
Planting Your Prayer Ministry
There are women and men in every church, or
community who long for friendship, fellowship and
spiritual growth. What a privilege it is to be a part of a
prayer team that is compassionate enough to pray
until change takes place in our families’ lives, in the
lives of our communities, etc.
Begin to let people know you are interested in
planting a prayer ministry in your community. If they
show interest get their contact information. As the
leader you should develop a Prayer ministry name.
Example: The Wailing Women and Men of God Prayer
Ministry. Set a time and place to meet. Make sure
the people who are interested have your contact
information as well, in case they have questions. You
may or may not want to play praise and worship
music. I like the praise and worship music playing low,
it helps usher us into the presence of God. Always
have an Elder, Minister or Pastor present.
Let me give you some information. There is only one
supreme Creator and Sovereign God. There is only
one way to Him and that is through His only son Jesus
Christ. God, our Heavenly
Father, is the only one we can
be assured of who hears and
answers our prayers. He is the
God of amazing love, mercy,
and forgiveness. By God, all
things are possible. Jesus says
in Mark 10:27,
Humanly speaking, it is
impossible. But not with God.
Everything is possible with
God.
Daniel 9:18 tells us,
We do not ask because we deserve help, but because
you are so merciful (Mercy means showing favor,
compassion, and kindness).
God’s ultimate demonstration of love is forgiveness of
the sins each of us have committed.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only son,
so that everyone who believes in him will not perish
but have eternal life." God did not send his son into
the world to condemn it, but to save it. - John 3:16-17.
He is the only God who has done this, and is the only
God able to do so. But His enemy, Satan, has sent
many false gods to deceive mankind. Do not be
deceived nor allow anything or anyone to take priority
over the only true and living God.
I want to encourage you to start making a list of
people who have a willing heart to pray for your
community and get busy being fruitful. My goal is to
reach one city at a time. I cannot do this by myself. I
9
need your help in order for this to happen. Remember
the word of God says, “If my people, which are called
by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then
God will hear from heaven and will forgive our sins
and will heal our land.”
Thank you for agreeing to help us pray for our
families, our communities, our pastors, our
community leaders, our state leaders, and our federal
leaders.
Love makes our friends a little dearer.
Joy makes our hearts a little lighter.
Faith makes our paths a little clearer.
Hope makes our lives a little brighter.
Peace brings us all a little nearer.

Proverbs 14:1
Ever walk into a home that looks beautiful on the outside but is full of strife and tension on the inside?
Everything can seem to be gorgeous and beautifully decorated and clean, but underneath there is
ugliness or something is amiss. There is an odor that seems out of place.
I can always tell if I have missed out on my time alone with the LORD. I find myself on edge, easily
irritated when things go wrong and generally missing the mark on being a woman running after His
heart. This seems to permeate all through my life when I miss out on that time alone with Christ. I need
to build up my spiritual house before I can build up my earthly house.
Do you have a special place to meet with the Lord? It does not need to be elaborate, it can be as simple
as your favorite chair. Set a time that you will keep. If life happens, this chair will still be there so you can
go there at any time of the day, no guilt allowed! But, do remember, He has not forgotten our time with
Him. He is always there waiting; patiently without condemnation. We are built up and leave that special
place smelling sweet. We cannot be in the presence of Jesus without changing for the better.
Have a basket with your Bible and a favorite notebook to write down prayers, nuggets that you glean
from the Word, and treasures that He downloads to your heart. He will speak directly to your heart if
you are willing to hear! If you love tea or coffee, have a little table close, make this area special. It is
your ‘altar’. It is for your meeting with the King of Kings. He is always waiting for us to visit.
Preparing for my time with the Lord reminds me of Esther. Esther was taken away from her family to
become part of a harem. A young Hebrew girl, taken from her Uncle to live with girls of similar age to
have a chance to be a queen. She prepares herself by preparing herself physically, she seeks wisdom in
finding out what the king likes. She learns his ways and seeks wisdom from those who knew the king.

She was chosen out of many to be God’s chosen, as we are also called. “And who knows whether you
have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14, NASB). Grab your crown. You are a
daughter of the King of Kings. You have been created for such a time as this.
We must be women who dig deep into His Word. Our home life depends on it. We are called to be the
heart of the home, attached to His heart leading to homes of peace and serenity. That only happens
when daughters of the King spend time at His feet. Grab your basket. It’s your time!

HER Man
Unhappily Married
7 Tips on How to Make it Last
Happy, happy, happy! This word is going around more and more
these days. Understandably everyone wants to have a happy
marriage. There are multiple books written promising happy
marriages every year and those books draw a great number of
women readers.
Sadly, if your goal is to have an interminably happy
marriage you are in for a trick not a treat. Happy is a
feeling based on what is going currently. You should
never make a permanent decision based off of
temporary feeling. Things inevitably don’t go right
and those seas of emotions go bouncing off the wall.
What happens when you are not happy with your
husband?
What happens when your husband is not happy with
you?
What happens when he says or does something that
hurts you, crushing your happiness?
Happy will not cut it. Commitment is becoming
taboo in marriage. According to one report there are
46,523 divorces weekly in America. Reason number 4
of the top 5, they are no longer attracted to (read
happy with) one another. We have all heard it said, “It
is easier to leave than to stay.” That can be true, but
divorce has consequences and should be avoided if
possible.
What is the standard if not happiness? First, we
should have the joy of the Lord. When the joy of the
Lord is our strength then when down times in our
marriage come we will not be so quick to rely on our
feelings and react prematurely (Neh. 8:10). I decided
that I will not allow the fleeting moments when I don’t
feel like I love my husband to tell me that we need to
permanently separate.
Commitment in marriage is about keeping the
marriage together whether things are going really
good or really bad.
How can your marriage be kept together for the long
haul? Here are 7 Tips you can start with today:
Tip #1: Change your expectations – We all have high
expectations when we enter marriage. Many of us
grew up thinking we were princesses and we dream of
meeting our prince charming and living happily ever
after. However, when those expectations do not meet
reality you will be disappointed time and time again.
At the most, learn to expect God to do the unexpected
in your marriage. At the least, align those expectations
with reality.
Tip #2: Laugh and Play – Don’t be a sour bunny all
the time. A 79-year-old marriage counselor told my
husband and me before marriage, “Your home should
always be filled with laughter.” Learn to laugh again in
your marriage. Play with your husband and be goofy
together. It’s great to be with someone you not only
handle real-life problems with but have fun with as
well.
14
Tip #3: Be Open – There has to be communication in
your marriage to keep it together. We as women are
always looking for our husbands to know
telepathically how we are feeling and if they don’t
know we sometimes get upset. NEWSFLASH! THEY
DON’T KNOW! Tell him how you feel when he hurts
you and when he does something to make you smile.
Tip #4: Pray –You are not the Holy Spirit. You are his
wife. Learn the difference. The more you go to the
Lord about your marriage the more you will see
changes first in yourself and then in your husband.
Nagging is less effective than prayer and far more
destructive for a marriage.
Tip #5: Sex & Dishes – Yes I said it. You need to talk
to your husband. Communicate your needs. You need
conversation from him, you want him to help with the
dishes a few times a week and he needs sex; plain and
simple. Learn each other’s needs and what your love
languages are and DO NOT ignore them. Being open
comes in again by letting each other know what you
like and what you do not like in-and-out of the
bedroom.
Tip #6: Just say NO! – Just say “NO” to divorce.
Agree with your husband that there will be no divorce
and agree that if the Lord is with you two then you can
make it together. Sometimes it’s as easy as a decision
to stick and stay.
Tip #7: Love & Forgive – Remember that love is not
just a fuzzy feeling, love is an action. Don’t give up on
your marriage because you do not feel the love
tingles. Put love into action even when you do not
feel it. Make his favorite dinner, have a date night, let
him massage your feet! Love is easier without feelings
of resentment. Forgive your husband each day and do
not hold grudges. The Father forgave you and you
should do the same.
These 7 tips will fortify your commitment factor so
you can stay together for the long haul.

10 Social Media Etiquette Tips
1. Use self-control do NOT share about your highly emotional thoughts.
2. Don’t sit and post all day. This shows unhealthy time management and unwise use of your time.
3. Spend more time talking with people face to face than on social media.
4. Let others speak highly about you. Don’t boast about yourself all day.
5. Set a schedule on how often and how much time you will spend on social media.
6. Don’t go posting about your ministry/business on other peoples’ walls or pages without their permission.
It is tacky….plain and simple.
7. Be honest and represent who you truly are.
8. No one needs to know where you just checked in at. Be safe on social media. Remember people are watching.
9. Don’t flaunt your relationships (marriage, friendship, business/ministry relationships) on your page. Keep things that need to be private….PRIVATE.
10. Know your purpose for using social media. Pray about it and ask God for a strategic plan on how to go about using social media for His glory.

Tell us a little about yourself and what you write? My name is Lora A. York. I am married to Larry York and live in Indiana. I have a B. A. in English: Creative Writing and a B.S. in Medical Technology from Ball State University. I have been a born again Christian since the age of 10. My father is an ordained Methodist minister, but I prefer charismatic and dynamic worship. I operate in the Gifts and Fruits of the Spirit. I do enjoy traditional liturgical style of worship as well. I have sung in Chancel choirs and rung handbells in handbell choirs as well. I lead a Wednesday night prayer group/Bible study. I also write songs, poems, short stories, novels, articles/columns, non-fiction books, comic/graphic novels, fiction novels...basically whatever God wants me to.
Tell us about your latest book project?
My book that is available now is entitled “God Help!” Practical Tools To Help You Navigate Your Christian Walk. I am now working on two books simultaneously. I am working with an artist I went to high school with, Scott Sawyer, on a graphic novel/comic book about how the spirit realm interacts and tries to influence human behavior. Also, it includes how our decisions effect what is going on around us in the spirit realm. I am hoping to reach out to not only youth, but also providing a fun way to educate adults about what is happening around us all the time.
The other book that I am working on I am classifying as a Christian Romance. It is a struggle of a woman to find her purpose and calling in life after being faced with challenges in her life. It is a story of repentance and a turning away from a season of rebellion. It also has a conversation between the main character and God training her to be released into ministry. It’s also an exhibition of how God talks to us and how we are to interpret and plan our lives based on what He is saying. It is a story of obedience in the midst of fiery trials.
How did you know God was calling you to write? I have always been gifted at writing...poems, journals, short stories, "learning experiences" towards novels, and articles and papers. I majored in English with an emphasis in creative writing and graduated with a B.A. from Ball State University in 1999. In order to earn a living, I have worked various jobs throughout the years. My true passion has always been the arts: writing, drawing/painting/ceramics, dance, drama, and playing musical instruments including flute, piano, guitar, hand bells, and I am currently working on learning drums as well. My calling came officially in October 2011 where I received baptism of fire (an official call into full-time ministry, not just speaking in tongues which I have been gifted with since at least age 12). Continue…
Author Interview
17
I did not know that I would be writing books officially as an anointing until July 2012. A friend of mine gave me a prophetic word that God's plan was not the plan that I "thought" it was. She said that I was going to be a writer and a speaker. I am gifted at many things, but I have learned that if God tells me He specifically wants me to do something, then by golly that is exactly what I am going to do. I had dabbled in writing many types of writings before that, but when I wrote God Help! Practical Tools to Help You Navigate Your Christian Walk, starting in August of 2012, I felt rushes of Spirit coming from heaven all during the six weeks that it took me finish the writing phase. I spent another six months getting permission to use quotes for publication and performing many editing rounds to the printed form that was released July 2013.
What fears have you dealt with in your writing journey and how have you overcome them? The fear I battle the most is that people would not think that what I had written was "good”. Throughout my academic career, I had a plethora of teachers tell me that I was a terrible writer and that I could not even form a complete sentence. I believe that was God's way of getting me to work even harder and get even better than He already gifted me to be even though the process made me cry and want to give up as I was growing up. I just keep pressing forward and try my best. I have always had it in me to try to prove people wrong. I don't know if that is a good motivation or not, but it is a factor.
The other fear that I had was I was afraid that people would criticize me. I do my very best and pour every ounce of myself into my writing. If people criticize it, they are criticizing me. It feels like rejection and it hurts. I overcome it by telling myself, that God was breathing on me as I wrote it. I was being obedient in writing it for Him because I love Him with everything I've got. I figure they are not criticizing me anymore, they are criticizing Him. It is out of my hands and I don't have to worry about it anymore. I know that I know that I know that He's got my back.
How do you stick to your writing goals? Holy Spirit makes it EXTREMELY hard for me to give up. When I try to do other things instead of writing like I should be, He makes everything else SO UNSATISFYING that I am COMPLETELY MISERABLE. Once I go and do what I know what He wants me to do, the misery is instantly gone and He floods me with His presence. I am full of peace and I feel how much He loves me. He keeps me on track and I am forever grateful to Him for not letting me give up and making sure that I will fulfill my destiny in the fullest. I am all about standing before Him and hearing Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
What advice can you give women who feel as though God is calling them into the writing world? OBEY! OBEY! OBEY! Your life will derail and be a train wreck if you don't. Been there, done that. Trust in Him. Pray often. He will send people to help you. He has for me. It has helped a lot to join writing/Christian groups on Facebook and Linked In. These people have dealt with everything that you are dealing with. Listen to His Voice. He can supernaturally give you answers to your problems and challenges. Every step of the way acknowledge Him and you CANNOT go wrong.
When you are writing FOR GOD, His Spirit comes and sucks away darkness around you like a giant vacuum cleaner. Every time someone reads your work for God it sucks away darkness around them and the anointing on your writing becomes stronger with each read. You are doing war against the enemy. I see it as poking the devil in the eye every time I write for Him. It is a great way to stay motivated.
