Helping the communityToronto Hydro is active in and around the community. From planting trees to raising money for those in need or helping make communities safer, we’re doing our part.

We’ve teamed up with the City of Toronto Community Crisis Response Program, Toronto Community Housing, Toronto Police Services and local volunteers to help make neighbourhoods safer with a program called Brighter Nights™. The purpose of this program is to brighten neighbourhoods by installing compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and encouraging residents to leave them on overnight. So far in 2013, we’ve lit up seven neighbourhoods with more than 1,000 bulbs.

We also make neighbourhoods greener. Toronto Hydro helps the environment by planting trees across Toronto. This year alone, 300 trees were planted at Milliken Park. Since 2004, we’ve planted more than 3,000 trees across the city!

In addition, our staff members care about giving back, and donating to good causes. As a team, we raise money yearly, and volunteer for important events like the United Way Campaign, CIBC Run for the Cure and Movember.
