The Power of Sigils

What is a sigil? It is a symbol or glyph that you

create to perform a magickal function. I will showyou how to create your own sigil shortly.

Some believe that the great occultist AustinOsman Spare was the orginator of sigil magick. I

believe It may have come from an earlier time.Either way Mr. Spares method is my favourite.

Sigils are monograms of thought, for the governmentof energy ... a mathematical means of symbolising

desire and giving it form that has the virtue ofpreventing any thought and association on that

particular desire (at the magical time), escaping thedetection of the Ego, so that it does not restrain or

attach such desire to its own transitory images,

memories and worries, but allows it free passage tothe sub-consciousness.

I have used sigils for many years. I like the ease ofcreating one, I like the fact that they are a very

personal (and maybe more powerful because of)

form of magick. In this case sympathetic magick.

A sigil when created is a little bit like a home-madetalisman. It can be carried, and you can use them

for many varied purposes.

How to Create a Sigil

Creating your sigil is a piece of cake - and you

dont need to know how to cook!

First, decide what you would like to make yoursigil for, what job do you want it to perform? For

our example will will use the following;

A Sigil for Self Confidence-

STEP 1: Right, we need to create our wish phrase,this is a sentence that expresses our desire. Right

this on a piece of paper. Your phrase must bewritten in the positive tense, as in I am Very Self

Confident Now!Try to keep it brief, youll see whyin a minute and dont use any negative words or

terms, only positive expressions.

STEP 2: So, write your desire at the top of a pagein CAPITAL LETTERS! O.K. Look at your sentence

and remove any repeated letters;

I AM VERY SELF CONFIDENT NOW

becomes

I AM VERY SLF CONDT W

STEP 3: You now take the remaining letters andcombine them into a symbol. You can place them

on top of each other, next to each other, or any

way you like. The idea is to formulate a patternthat appeals to you personaly!

Activating or Charging your Sigil

Focus on your newly created symbol and what it is

supposed to do for you. I suggest staring at thesigil (tear it from the page so that no other text is

with it) until it grows blurry.

Some schools suggest that you should now forgetthe sigils use (i.e. more confidence in this case) Idisagree. Keep your sigil where you can see it or

look at it often. Each time you look at it rememberthe your particular desire not the actual written

words.

You can create a sigil for anything you like, andeven make one to increase your spells or

talismans power, if you are into magick big time.

Try not to have more than 2 or 3 sigils in use atany one time because your subconscious mindwill get overloaded and your sigils will lose their

power. You sigils get their strength from yoursubconsious mind.

I keep one in my wallet so that I can take a peek

every now and then.

Thats how easy they are to make. On the nextpage I have listed some other uses for sigils. I willwrite them in the manner that they should be used.

Just remember to be positive, use present tenseand be accurate in your expression...

Some suggested uses for Sigils;

I have a new red sports car

I am healthy and my body is fit

I have a new and exciting partner

Wealth comes to me easily

Passing my school tests is a piece of cake

Negative thoughts do not enter my mind

My new business is really exploding

I am getting stronger and bigger muscles

everyday

That new promotion is mine, etc...

Get to it. Make up your own sigil to attractwhatever you desire, its easy. If you like you canwrite it on clay, or parchment paper or even, burn

it onto a piece of wood!

Keep it simple and make it fun!
