Thank you, thank you, thank you

to all the readers that have en-couraged me to go on with thisnewsor prayer letter! One friend

came up to me and told me nice newslet-ter. Thinking he meant the design, I re-plied Its all templates. After talking withhim a bit, I found out he really meant thecontent. Wow! It seems there are people re-ally reading this newsletter!! How surpris-ing to me What started out at first as aschool assignment, became a useful tool tobring glory to God. I praise Him for thisprivilege.

Since I have missed several months andbecause God has been pushing this specif-ic topic in my life (again), I will make this aspecial issue, which might well mean it islonger than usual (Relax I put a lot ofpictures to make it look like a lot less ).

As you might have found out by now,God has put a burden for street kids on myheart. In the next pages, I would like toshare this burden with you as you might

be more engaged to pray for this specialgroup of small peoples. They are the leastof the least and I believe a lost generationfull of promise.

today in the lifeA street child can be between0 and 17 years of age (yes, even babies can be found onthe streets).

The total numbers of streetchildren in the Philippines:

estimates lie around 250,000to 1.5 Million (one streetchild is one too many).

Street children are generallymale (67.7%), 10 to 15 yearsold, who have been physical-ly or sexually abused athome or neglected, andwhose parents are separatedor whose families are dys-functional.

As a result, they seldom gohome to their families.

The largest group of streetchildren belongs to the 6 12 year-old age bracket(47%), closely followed by the13 15 year-old group(31.5%).

    Three categories of streetchildren:

    1. "Children on the streets"make up approximately75% of the street childrenin the Philippines. Thesechildren work on thestreets but do not livethere, having a home toreturn to after working. Some of them even con-tinue to attend school while working long hourson the streets.

    2. In contrast, "Children of

the street" on the otherhand make their homeson the street. Theymake up 25%-30% ofthe street children in thePhilippines. These chil-dren often create a sort

of family among fellowstreet children. Some ofthem still have familyties, but do not visitthem and some even seethese ties as bad.

    3. "Completely abandonedchildren" have no fami-ly ties and are entirelyon their own for physi-cal and psychologicalsurvival. They make upabout 5%-10% of the

    street children in thePhilippines.

today in the lifeBut actually they aremore than numbers; theyare human beings with aname and a story just likeyou and me. Unlike you andme however, they are under-privileged and which by defi-

nition means they aredeprived of many of therights and privileges enjoyedby most people in society.

Whenever, I would stay inthe Philippines, it would al-ways bother me, when I sawa child begging at three inthe morning around the par-ty areas of Manila or when I would see them sleeping onthe sides of the streets. In a TV report about street kids, they showed parents who

The Starfish StoryOne day a man was walking along the beach when henoticed a boy picking something up and gently

throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, heasked,

What are you doing? The youth replied, Throwing starfish back into theocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I dont

throw them back, theyll die.Son, the man said, dont you realize there are miles and

miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You cant make adifference!

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up an-other starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smil-

ing at the man, he said

I made a difference for that one.

were not minding that theirkids are selling themselvesinto prostitution. These are just my own experiencesand Im sure there are moreand worse cases out there.

What makes it worse; ofall people, these little onesdid nothing to deserve thislife. They were simply borninto this cold and brutal re-ality. Presumably, becauseof some wrong turns theirparents made in life, theyhave to now pay the price.

In all this, I never sawany hope for them in thepast and just always looked

away. The problem was justtoo big for me...

Big House by AudioAdrenaline is a greatsong! If you havent heard

that song, listen to it onYouTube while you readon.

OK, now imagine justas the lyrics imply ABIG BIG HOUSE! Withlots and lots of food, rooms and a huge yard where all the kids canplay! Thats exactly thehouse we are NOT tryingto build in Manila, Philip-pines right now

Why not? Well, first ofall, I think that song isabout heaven and wedont want them to be toocomfortable here on earth and second, my motherand I have never donethis before, so I think it would be wise to startsmall. However, we do feel

that quality should go be-fore quantity. After all, weare called to disciple

    and not just convert mass-es.

So yeah, it has been acrazy and long journey, but we feel God has called mymother and I to work withHim to fulfill His visionand reach out to the streetkids in the Philippines.

So far, as you can see inthe pictures below, we are well on our way to put upthe first house. We haveother lots, one of them isbeing used to plant vegeta-bles so that the childrencan learn to eat healthy andin the future maybe in this way provide for themselvesand their family.

We believe every childshould get to experiencewhat it is like to be a prin-cess or prince of the Kingof kings. However, we also

believe that a princess orprincess should learn toread, write and eventually

wash the dishes Afterall, Jesus showed us whatit meant to follow Him by

    serving others.

Since the need is soimmense, the work is tobe done by the Church ofthe Philippines. Meaningto say, we will be workingtogether with localChurches to encourageand empower them to dothe same on their own.

As mentioned, we havenever done this before and we are completely walk-ing in faith and obedi-ence to God in this mat-ter. However, as you willsee in the next page, He isproviding and walkingalongside with us in thisproject. When He calls, Hewill do His part. The moreincapable we are, the moreHe can show up and

therefore the more He canbe glorified. This is our ul-timate goal.

We thank God for these blessings:

We received the permission to use an emptylot to plant vegetable for the kids!

We needed a social worker and God gave usthis divine connection. We thank God for her life and service!

My mother had an opportunity to betrained in a homeschooling program.

Relatives of ours and even a pastor and his

wife are readily helping us right now. Please pray for the following:

For all paperwork for our foundation statusto go smooth and that this home will be es-tablished officially and without any legalhindrances.

No complications during the construction ofthe first children home and that all costswill be covered.

Although, many people have been set onour path, we need more helpers.Pray for God-fearing and child-loving minis-ters who are willing to sacrifice their life forthese kids.

Also pray that experienced children minis-ters will cross our paths willing to train lo-cals to reach out to street kids and helpmend broken family ties with the power ofGods Love.

All members of this project needs covering

for health and their needs to be met.

Please pray that we may use the lot for thevegetables forever or at least until Jesus re-turns.

Finally, please pray that God will be con-stantly guiding us in all our steps! We needall the help He can give us!!
