Manage the quality of your projects
The Teamcenter Quality project management capabilities contain improved
checklists from quality master data in version 5.2. These are added to existing
checklists and can be reused in quality projects. They can be assigned to an
event in the project or program on the quality tab. Sub questions can also be
added at the next level. The quality project manager reduces time to create a
new project and assign specific checklists.
Rely on a common repository: quality master data
Version 5.2 extends the classification for characteristics.
You can select from a variety of existing classifications or add new classifications
via configuration. This applies to the graphic symbols too. In the previous
version, the classification was displayed as a textual description of the character-
istic in the inspection definition in the control plan and FMEA. In version 5.2,
the graphic symbol is displayed and the output is available on the control plan.
Another improvement requires the version number to be updated to track
changes. This is introduced for all characteristics (visual, attributive and vari-
able) and for failures. A characteristic can be changed as many times as needed
without changing the version. The characteristic must be released before it can
be used in an inspection definition.

Use improved FMEA
FMEA is a methodology that allows companies
to assess risks associated with possible product
failure. The Teamcenter Quality FMEA module
helps you support preventive defect avoidance
by allowing you to evaluate effects caused by
potential problems early in the planning
phase.
The FMEA module supports several standards
and guidelines. In order to follow the seven-
step approach of the new harmonized FMEA
methodology, the net view tab has been
optimized. In addition to the graphic display
of the links in the net view, it is possible to
work in the nets.
Work in FMEA net views
The enhanced view allows you to:
• Add or delete new elements • Edit elements• Link elements in combination with the tree
structure• Remove a link
The nets can be extended and the new system/
function or failure elements can be created in
the nets. The connection to the focus element
is directly defined in the case of failures from
effect or cause.
It is possible to import FMEA by using the
extensible markup language (XML) standard
exchange format, which was formerly known
as manufacturer supplier relationship (MSR)
FMEA - document type description (DTD). This
feature supports the path by replacing legacy
systems step-by-step, without losing data and
enabling knowledge transfer.

Support several standards and guidelines
for FMEA
The supported FMEA guidelines have been
extended in version 5.2 and the International
Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949-based form
sheet is available. The risk priority number (RPN)
can be used in addition to the action priority (AP)
by selecting the preferred FMEA guideline. You
can customize the form sheets via configuration
and style them according your needs.
Manage quality with enhanced engineering
collaboration
With Teamcenter Quality control and inspection
planning, you can improve product quality,
customer relations and satisfaction while decreas-
ing development time. The integrated solution
offers process and design-oriented inspection
planning combined with control plan manage-
ment to prevent rework and reduce costs.
It is possible to support the automatic 3D balloon-
ing of characteristic-relevant information in
version 5.2. This includes target values, toler-
ances, items and numbering authored in comput-
er-aided design (CAD) by the engineering depart-
ment for product and manufacturing information
(PMI). This information can be enhanced for the
quality manufacturing engineers so they can
access production and quality inspection
information.

You can allocate 3D models and 2D drawings
to the control plan, inspection plan and
individual characteristics. This allows you
to automate the time-consuming, manual
creation of an inspection plan and reduce
transfer errors such as measurements and
sequences.
It is also possible to generate the Dimensional
Planning and Validation (DPV) workbook from
Teamcenter Quality control and inspection
planning.
Boost your PS process with a standard
methodology and user-friendly interface
If a problem is detected, it needs to be evalu-
ated. Users can collect all symptoms in the
Quality Issue Management module and hand
them over when a deeper analysis is required.
Leverage a customized template
Version 5.2 enables you to create corrective,
preventive and containment actions from a
template. When you create an action, you can
decide if you want to:
• Create a new action• Select an action from an existing template• Create an action as a template by selecting
the quality action as a template tab, you can create standard actions as a template and add a detailed description when reusing it in a corrective, preventive and/or containment action
If you want to reuse an action as a template,
you can select the corresponding menu item,
the action directly from results or use the
filters for preselection. After you have selected
the action, you can add the detailed descrip-
tion, due date, owner and change the status
of the action to active.
Avoid repeated defects with automatic
checks
PS comes with the repeated defects evaluation
function in version 5.2. The system automati-
cally checks the following:
• If there are any problem solving processes (PSP) with the same problem item (assigned in the problem-description)
• If there is any PS with the same defect (based on the defect catalog, assigned in the problem-defect)
• If both rules match
The ability to select a previous date is
predefined as a preference. It supports the
user to find existing cases or check their
effectiveness

Use extensions in RCA
There are many new opportunities to analyze
and evaluate root causes more effectively and
efficiently with the root cause analysis (RCA)
extension. Many requirements of RCA by the
German Association of the Automotive
Industry (VDA) are supported.
During the creation of a cause in the Ishikawa
or fishbone diagram, it can be directly defined
as a root cause. This can be validated directly
with the 5 Whys method or another Ishikawa
diagram can be attached. The root cause is
marked by an icon and additional marking in
the graphic views (marked red).
All causes defined as root cause are displayed
in the corrective actions tab. This means the
actions can be assigned to a dedicated root
cause. It can be done when creating the cause
by marking it or after analyzing it by labeling
the corresponding field as root cause. The
assignment is also considered on the PS
process report.

Perform advanced searches and reporting
of quality actions
Quality Action Management enables you to
manage quality and free actions created across
all modules. This is used to monitor the due
date of an assigned task or action.
In version 5.2, the source is displayed as
a context for every quality action. You can
quickly and easily navigate to the relevant
process if required. The search can be
extended with FMEA specific properties,
the creation of reports and analyses are
simplified and the source specification enables
immediate opening of an FMEA.
In Teamcenter active workspace client’s (AWC)
global search function, several new indexed
properties can be used as filters. These proper-
ties change depending on the available data.
