SIC CO-CREATION is a structured process of four phases in which activities are geared towards finding solutions to a specific challenge. The aim of this process is to bring a new approach to a local context that has social impact in its means (process) and ends (solutions). Next to the solutions to the defined challenge other outcomes are achieved, such as a common and shared understanding of the local issue by a wider group of stakeholders, community capacity building, citizen resilience, new collaborations, teambuilding or wider engagement locally.

In the SIC CO-CREATION citizens and organisations from different backgrounds come together and develop impactful solutions to complex local challenges. Facilitators of the process engage with different local actors, create an open participatory process and generate opportunities for social innovation and systemic change.

SIC CO-CREATION TOOLKIT is addressed to a varied type of organisations – NGOs, community organisations, foundations, networks of entrepreneurs, local governments, etc – who want to set up and implement a co-creation process and experiment with social innovation.

The SIC CO-CREATION TOOLKIT usually run between 3 and 9 months in which first the organisation is prepared and trained to facilitate a process of a series of co-design workshops after which potential solutions to local challenges are co-created and ready to be implemented.

What is the SIC CO-CREATION TOOLKIT?

The SIC CO-CREATION SUPPORT PROGRAMME is typically structured around a four phased co-creation process and includes:

By running an SICCO-CREATION process the facilitator organisation will:

• Gain internal capacity on co-creation and social innovation• Get ready to better support participatory approaches • Build on an open and collaborative culture• Create new crucial relationships and strengthen their existing networks• Strengthen the local social innovation ecosystem to better tackle local challenges • Position themselves as social innovation leaders locally

To run and effective process using the SIC CO-CREATION TOOLKIT fhefacilitator should involve a committed group of people, a core team, who:

• will facilitate the whole process• know well the organization and local ecosystem• are able to mobilize resources • engage with citizens and stakeholders

The CO-CREATION TOOLKIT includes 4 co-creation workshops along a 4 phased structured process. The facilitator will engage with stakeholders and citizens including those who are directly affected by the challenge they selected.

The aim of these workshops is to reach to a common understanding and definition of the challenge –first co-define workshop - and collectively create solutions to the challenge – 3 co-creation workshops. Design thinking methodologies and service design tools will be applied to generate innovative ideas for the challenge coming from the local context.

After the last co-creation workshop the facilitator organisation will have the opportunity to test and implement a number of different solutions created in a collaborative way by key stakeholders and citizens who will be the end users of these solutions.
