GUEST LECTURE ON RAPID PROTOTYPING

About the Speaker:

Getting into the

profile of the

resource person Dr.

U. Chandrasekhar, he

is a scientist and

academician having

30 years of

experience in the

areas of design,

analysis, and testing

and project management of aero gas turbine projects. At

present, he is the Director of ESCI, the autonomous educational

wing of the Institution of Engineers (India).

Dr.U.Chandrasekhar received his graduation from NIT, Suratkal

and post-graduation from IIT Chennai in the stream of

mechanical engineering. He received PhD for his research in

additive manufacturing which was carried out at DRDO. He

also did an advanced diploma in management.

Dr.U.Chandrasekhar received a Gold Medal from the former

President of India Dr. AP J Abdul Kalam for his academic

excellence. He received commendation medal from the

Scientific Advisor to the Defense Minister in recognition of his

contributions to rapid manufacturing of complex aeronautical

systems. He served as the Project Director for National Projects

of DRDO with focus on metal prototyping and also harsh

environment sensors. He led a group of scientists at Moscow

during a critical phase of engine testing. He serves on the

editorial board of international RP journal and Springer IE

journal.

The event was conducted in seminar hall of SVECW. Forty

students and all the faculty members participated. The main

objective of this guest lecture was to bring awareness in the

latest trends of manufacturing. The focus was more on rapid

prototyping an its demand in manufacturing.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT OF KDLOA:

On receiving the letter of permission from

'Krishna District Lorry Owner’s Association

(KDLOA)'Amapuram 30 km away from

Vijayawada , students with two faculty members

went on an industrial visit to the Training

institute and Research center on 25 June 2014.

The students along with faculty members began

their journey from Shri Vishnu Engineering

College for Women at 8 a.m. in a van. All

reached the training center at about 11 o’clock.

Members who are in-charge of production

received them at the entrance. They briefed out

the activities of this Research centre and Training institute They spoke about the functioning

of IC engines, various lorry and Auto parts. Our faculty members explained various

departments. The visit came to an end at 3.00p.m. All the students along with the faculty left

the premises at 3.30p.m.

The trip was informative, interesting and a successful one. As students of Mechanical

Engineering, such knowledge about engine parts and their working really gave better

understanding. The students expressed their gratitude to the Principal for allowing them to

visit such place.

Mr.G. Satish& Dv Sekhar attended a two-day workshop on “Advaced Composite

Materials" at JNTUK, Kakinada from 20 to 21 March 2014.

Mr.N. Srinivasa Rao& G. Satish attended a two-day workshop on “Teqip Conclave " at IIT

Hyderabad, Hyderabad, during 8 and 9 March 2014.

Mr.K. Mohan Kumar & Mr. J V Narasimha Raju attended a one-week workshop on

“Pedagology Training " at ESCI Hyderabad, Hyderabad from 20 to 25 January 2014.

The department organized a five-day workshop on

“SOLID WORKS ” from 10 to 14 March 2014.

Direct Injection System ” at a National Level Technical Symposium at S.R.K.R

Engineering College, Bhimavaram during 22nd and 23rd of February 2014.

Ms.V. Aparna & Ms.N.Haritha Reddy Presented a paper on “Water Jet ” at SAE events at

SVECW, Bhimavaram on11th Feb,2014.

Ms.P.Sindhusha & Ms.M. Haritha Presented a paper on “Pedal Power Technology ” at

Ms.K.Vinnela bagged the first prize for her poster

presentation which was organized by SVECW,

Bhimavaram during 6th and 7th March, 2014.

Ms.P.Sindhusha and Ms.M.Haritha received the

first prize for her Paper presentation organized by

SAE of SVECW, Bhimavaram on11th Feb. 2014.

Ms.S.Venu Mounika, Ms.K.Sruthi and Ms.V.Aparna received the first and third prizes

during National Science Day Celebrations organized by ISTE student chapter of SVECW

on 28th Feb,2014.

The fourth B.Tech students Ms.B. S Suvarna Jyothi, Ms.D. C Prasanna Kumari, Ms.D R

Subhasri Mounika, Ms.G. Vyshali, Ms.K. Yamini , Ms.L. Sravya, Ms.M. Aruna

Kameswari, Ms.Y. Mounika underwent 15 days internship at Vizag Steel Plant during 3rd

and 15th March, 2014.

The final year students Ms.K. Supriya and Ms.K. Vineela are FinalYear Students

underwent a fifteen-day internship at ONGC Ltd., Rajahmundry from 22nd Jan to 6th

February, 2014.

The final year students Ms.G. Naga Ramya, Ms.M. Teja Aparna completed a one month

internship at Infotech, Hydeabad during 16 June and 15 July, 2014.

Ms.K. Narishma and Ms.K.Bindu Lakshmi attended workshop on "Robotics" from 21st to

22nd February, 2014 at KLU.

As a regular practice, Shri Vishnu Engineering

College for Women oraganized a National

Technical Women Symposium 'Medha Milan' on

6th & 7th March 2014. The chief guest for the

inaugural was Ms.Malathi Srinivasan, Country

Leader, and Academic Initiative-IBM India. She

is a young, dynamic lady who initiated a project

called 'Praviin'. Our Vice-Chairman Shri

R. Ravi Chandran, Principal Dr.G.Srinivasa Rao,

VicePrincipal, Dr. P.Srinivasa Raju and the

Convener of Medhamilan Dr.T.S.R.Murthy were

the dignitaries on the dais.
