Shred began with a passion for shredding, in whatever form that may be, this is the core of our being. You know the feeling, shredding is when you push yourself to your limits, move beyond the norm and create new standards. It’s a positive movement that keeps you wanting more. Why is there so much animosity towards other facets of the sport? There are no haters here. Break it down and we are all aiming for the same thing, fun and freedom to let it all hang out. Shred pushes the style of the sport, yeah, to some we are outrageous but we are just having fun with it, conveying a sense of humor with our sport. Our products are 100% the brain child of the athletes using them and are produced with the highest quality maetrials, engineering and style to meet any shredder’s demands. Shred was started by Olimpic Gold Medalist and World Champion Ted Ligety, and avid skier/engineer Carlo Salmini. We’re not a conglomerate of businessmen, we put our passion, know-how and love for the sport into every product made.

With the new Shred patented NODISTORTION innovation by SHRED Optics, the thermal double lens is allowed to adjust to varying altitudes without distortion. Air molecules are free to pass through the micro-porous red PORON™ filter, maintaining the surfaces of the inner and outer lens parallel at any time, while water and moisture are stopped from entering the space between the lenses. It’s optical precision defined.

The PHOTOCHROMIC technology is sensitive to light and adapts intelligently and automatically to sunlight intensity. PHOTOCHROMIC reacts to light changes, and within seconds the lens turns darker if the sunlight gets stronger or gets lighter if the sunlight gets weaker.

The double lens technology used in most SHRED Optics goggles creates a thermal barrier that keeps the inner lens warm and dry. A special hydrophilic treatment on the inner lens allows the surface to absorb moisture before fog can form.

FLOWtex is a moisture wicking compound placed over vent holes that keeps them clear of snow and ice for perfect ventilation no matter how bad the weather is.

In-molded construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet’s impact-absorbing foam liner for extra durability and very low weight. Protection, comfort and value are maximized.

This helmet features Slytech’s latest impact protection innovation with its SLYTECH 2ND SKiN XT Foam Technology. A layer of SLYTECH 2ND SKiN XT is added to provide a progressive shock absorber that intelligently adapts to the different forces and speeds of a crash. The shock absorption increases proportionally to the strength of the impact and to protect completely at any impact level. In addition, the 2ND SKiN XT recovers naturally from the impact and allows for better protection in a series of impacts.

This helmet complies with the new FIS rules for speed alpine ski racing at the World Cup level. DH/SG approved helmets need to absorb substantially more energy on impact in order to better protect the head. The original EN 1077A norm for maximum acceleration of the head is 250g, however, FIS’ new requirement allows for no more than 230g. According to the new FIS rule, helmets need to carry the “DH/SG” label. Our helmets that carry the DH/SG label allow our customers to race speed events at the World Cup level, and provide the peace of mind that they are using the very same top-level safety protection as the world’s top pros.

EN 1077A is a European Standard for Helmets for Alpine Skiers and Snowboarders. Certified EN 1077A helmets pass severe shock absorbing and penetration tests, retention system performance, field of vision and durability. These tests are performed at low, high and room temperature, and also after artificial ageing. These helmets have the plastic shell covering all the way down to the ears, for maximum safety at high speed.

EN 1077B is a European Standard for Helmets for Alpine Skiers and Snowboarders. Certified EN 1077B helmets pass the same severe shock absorbing and penetration tests, retention system performance, field of vision and durability as the EN 1077A. The only difference is a smaller coverage: the norm allows soft ear pads, for maximum comfort.

ASTM F2040 is the American National Standard for Helmets Used for Recreational Snow Sports. Certified ASTM F2040 helmets pass very severe dynamic strenght retention tests, roll-off tests (for positional stability), and impact tests with three different anvils. At low, high, and room temperature.

Easily accessible and adjustable slide vents allow you to regulate airflow in your helmet while riding. Just slide the vents open to allow fresh air to flow into your helmet or slide them closed to seal it off from the cold and snowy weather.

SHREDVent uses a system of helmet vents to pull warm and moist air out the goggles and exhaust it out of the helmet to prevent fogging.

The SHRED Wheel makes it easy to dial in a custom fit in seconds, even with gloves on. An ergo-frienly dial at the base of the helmet provides up to 6cm of adjustment and enhanced stability.

SHREDry is a breathable, temperature controlling, anti-odor and anti-static inner lining so you stay dry, comfortable and warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Shred’s Soft Fit System is a simple but comfortable size fitting device using Velcro to precisely adapt the helmet to your head size.

Unique feature of SHRED hard shell helmets, allows you to choose from a kit (sold separately) of bright and colorful goggle retainers to match goggles and outfit.

In our R&D cycle, Slytech engineers kept running up against performance walls with the Polyurethane foam found in the original 2nd Skin. Having set brand new ambitious protection goals, there was not much more that could be done to the material to drastically improve its performance, particularly in its low temperature performance. We combed through a multitude of industrial materials, looked far and wide and finally stumbled upon EVA, Ethylene-Vinyl-Acetate, a copolymer. In our lab and field tests, this little magic copolymer exhibited a much higher stability, toughness and durability at low temperatures and UV radiation than any competing protector, including our very own Polyurethane foam. The XT in the 2nd SKiN XT name stands for XTRA TOUGH. The extraordinary properties of the extra tough copolymer are due to its closed cell that provides improved shock absorption as well as its water and weather proof property.
