Showcase your Skills with a Digital Portfolio
Agenda
What is a digital portfolio?
Why would you create one?
What could you include in your digital portfolio?
What
A website about you
• The platform – the website that you create for your digital portfolio.
• The content that you choose to put into it – as prospective teachers, you would include anything that shows what you can do and what you have learned on your journey to becoming a teacher.
• The blog posts or reflections that tie everything together – this is where you can really show who you are as a teacher, what your philosophy is, what you are about.
Why
Reflection TaisceShowcase
A showcase of your achievements that you can present to prospective employers
Developing your digital literacy skills: by creating a digital portfolio, you will be using additional technologies and also showcasing the technologies and apps you used on your programme
A reflective tool: a repository for your reflections (where you can develop your identity as a teacher)
The Teaching Council
A digital portfolio is not a requirement for Initial Teacher Training.
The Teaching Council are currently rolling out a professional induction framework for newly qualified teachers called Droichead.
As part of this induction process, NQTs would be expected to keep a professional portfolio called Taisce.
