1 B) KOI ENTRY* Entry is based on HONOUR system. The participant is to self declare all informationcorrectly, particularly to ensure that the size of the Koi shall be correct at the time of benchingor judging. Any Koi found to be over the size limit shall be disqualified and shall not beentitled to any prize.Participants shall participate in the spirit of good sportsmanship and to respect the decision ofthe Judges and show committee. In the event of any dispute in the results, a participant maylodge his complaint with the Show Committee with a Lodgement fee of RM500. The ShowCommittee may at its discretion accept the complaint and if accepted, the complaint shall bepresented to the Show Chairman and Head Judge for review. If the complaint is successful,the fee shall be returned. In all cases, the Show Chairman shall be the sole authority for theInterpretation of Rules and Regulations and The judge’s decision is final.

The participant have read and understood the Rules & Regulations of the Competition andshall abide by them and agree to indemnify the show committee and Kelab Ikan Koi ZNAMalaysia, Kuala Lumpur against any incidences, loss, damage or death of their Koi at theshow site.

(i) IN PVC BAG – 25BU ~ 50BU. IN & OUT on same dayKois are entered and judged in official PVC bags provided from the club. Kois photosand registration forms must be submitted ON-LINE by Wed, Aug16th. Kois shall bebenched and de-benched on Saturday (see item 7) after completion of judging or toowner’s tank.


CHARGES FOR KOI ENTRY (PVC BAG)

Holding tanks can be provided (on 1st come 1st served basis) for OUTSTATIONentries of 6 kois and above for this size categories. If available, holding tanks forthose less than 6 kois may be provided with a nominal charge of RM100 per tank.

(ii) IN TANK – 55BU & ABOVEKois 55 cm & above shall be entered in the participant’s allotted individual tank.Judging of Kois shall be carried out and compared from their respective tanks.

CHARGES FOR KOI ENTRY (TANK)The charges for the usage of tanks for the period of Koi Show are as follows:-

i 5ft round tank RM 800.00ii 6ft round tank RM1,100.00iii 7 ½ ft round tank RM 1,500.00

The charges for Koi entries 55BU & above shall be based on the number of tanksrequired. Participants are to follow the recommended stocking density to avoidfouling of water. Kois in excess of recommended numbers can be rejected at the solediscretion of the show committee. (Kois below 55BU may be kept in the tanks but arestill subject to entry charge per koi.)

1 C) MAXIMUM NUMBERS OF KOIS PER TANK

Please adhere to the maximum number of Kois recommended per tank as follows:-

*Should they have a combination of small and big kois, Participants shall use theirgood common sense and should not have more than 10 kois in their tanks to avoidfouling of water. Where in doubt, the decision of the benching team or showcommittee shall prevail.

Note: Any participant who wishes to change “name of Koi ownership” afterregistration, shall be required to apply to Show Chairman before the officialannouncement of Koi Show winners. An administrative charge of RM400.00 per Koiis imposed. The change of name shall be effected after payment is made at the showground. (Change of ownership is not encouraged by the Club).

1 E) Each participant is to ensure that the number, size and variety of Koi stipulated in theon line entry form shall be the same at benching time. The participant is to markclearly on each Koi bag, the tank number, so that the Koi can be placed in the correcttank at the show ground as allocated by the Koi Show Committee.

2) The closing date for all entries is Wed, Aug 16th 2017

i. The competition is open to all and is on a first come first served basis.

ii. The show committee reserves the right NOT to accept any Koi entry applicationsubmitted even though cheque has been forwarded or monies paid. Anyinconvenience caused is regretted.

3) Late entries may be submitted (subject to approval) after the closing date but a lateentry fee of 2 times the normal fee will be imposed. However, your co-operation isrequested in getting the entries in as soon as possible to assist in our logistic /operations.

4) PAYMENTAll completed Entry Forms shall be submitted with a cheque made payable to KelabIkan Koi ZNA Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur or a bank in slip to MBB014048327128 must be scanned and submitted ON-LINE :

Entries without proof of bank-in-slip to Club’s account will not be accepted.

5) KOI PHOTOGRAPHSParticipants should submit photographs of their Koi ON-LINE. Photograph shouldclearly show the Koi occupying at least two-thirds of the photograph. Only bluecolored tubs should be used as background. The same photographs will be printed onall Prize Winning Plaques if any.

KOI WITHOUT PROPER PHOTOGRPAHS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TOPARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITON.

6) The sizes of Koi shall be stated by the Participant and is on a self-declaration basis.If sizing is found to be larger than declared, the Koi will be disqualified and will notbe eligible for any prize award. Participants are urged to be accurate in their sizing atbenching. The show committee may check the size of Koi during benching forjudging. Participants shall provide their own measuring tub, failing which; theshow’s official communal tub shall be used.

7) BENCHING1st Round benching for kois of all sizes will be from 3:00pm to 8:00pm onFriday, 18th Aug, 2017. No Koi will be accepted after 8:00pm.After benching, all kois regardless of size shall be placed into their respectiveparticipant’s tanks. On final completion of all benching, participants may inspect theirKoi in their respective tanks. Should there be any queries raised regarding theclassification and size category, please notify the Benching Head, or any ShowCommittee members immediately.


The Show Committee reserves the right to reject and/or remove any Koi, which isfound to be sick, diseased, deformed or unsuitable for the show.

2nd Round Benching for Kois from 25BU – 50BU in PVC bags will be from(1:00pm to 2:00pm) on Sat, 19th Aug, 2017.Participants or their handlers shall commence bagging kois in this size division in theofficial PVC bags within the allotted time. Particpants shall use waterproof markerpen to mark on the side of each bag clearly to identify participant’s ID number, Koiidentity #, size and variety. They should be brought to the small kois area and placedon the demarcated blue colour floor area, according to the variety and size divisionindicated on the floor. Kois which are not bagged up and placed properly at thedesignated area, shall not be judged, hence shall receive no prize.

After judging, NO Koi is to be removed or placed back into their respective tank,without the permission, verification and escort by the designated Koi show officer.

8) TANK & WATER MANAGEMENT

The show Committee will provide fresh water to participants during the show.Participants are to look after their own kois in their own tank, including the removalof faeces or dirty water and prohibited from making contacts or mixing of kois at theshow ground. Participants or handlers shall not tamper with and/or add any substancesinto the water. The show Committee shall not be held responsible for any loss,damages or death of kois.

The participant is required to make available all the necessary equipment, particularlytheir own benching tub/measuring tub (marked with their tank number/s on the tubwith permanent marker), and to be on hand to show their Koi to the judges when sorequired during judging. (Note: The participant is not allowed in judging area duringjudging, unless their presence is requested by the show committee). The participantshall use their own net for their own tank only. These benching / measuring tubs shallbe removed by the participant/handler immediately after judging is completed andpermitted by the Koi show committee.The participant / handler are not permitted to discharge any water into trenches or wetthe floor in the show ground. The floor must be kept dry at all time.

9) Participants are not allowed to remove any Koi from the display tank unless approvalhas been obtained from the Show Chairman. Such permission will only be given whenthe Koi is critically ill.

10) Participants are recommended not to feed their Koi for at least 7 days prior to theshow. This is to prevent pollution of the water, which may endanger the health ofKois in the display tank.

11) Kois can only be removed from the display tank on 20th Aug, 2017 (Sunday) after4.00 p.m. The Show Committee will not be responsible for any Koi not collected afterthe specified time.

12) After the judging has been completed, all prize winners may check the on-line.Should there be any error, please inform the Registration Counter Immediately.


13) In the event of any dispute, the Show Committee shall be the sole authority for theInterpretation of Rules and Regulations. The judge’s decision is final.

14) Please observe strictly the above Benching and De-benching requirements and anyother ruling that may be displayed at the show ground.

15) The Prize Presentation for major prizes will be carried out at the show venue onSunday 16th Aug. Participants are kindly requested to be properly attired whenreceiving prizes. All Prize Winners are requested to be present but should they beunable to attend, they may nominate another ADULT to collect the prizes on theirbehalf. Please note that the Show Committee cannot be held responsible for anyunclaimed prizes.All major prize winners (all the champions) are encouraged to submit the owner’spersonal photograph to the Koi Club within 2 weeks after the show. This is tofacilitate the publication in the next show Magazine or Nichirin magazine wherepossible.

JUDGING PROCEDURES

JUDGESJudges shall comprise of qualified ZNA Judges led by the ZNA Head Judge. Only qualified judges areallowed to vote. The team may comprise of trainee judges who are merely observers.

GRAND CHAMPION (A) GOSANKECandidate will be selected from the top five (5) Kois from 80 BU and above. When there is notenough suitable Koi, judges shall select Koi from 75 BU. The 3 best Kois out of 5 shall be short-listed. The GRAND CHAMPION, followed by the 1ST RUNNER UP and the 2ND RUNNER UP areselected by secret ballot from the 3 best Kois.

GRAND CHAMPION (B) NON-GOSANKECandidate will be selected from the top five (5) Kois from 80 BU and above. When there is notenough suitable Koi, judges shall select Koi from 75 BU. The 3 best Kois out of 5 shall compete forthe NON-GOSANKE CHAMPION. Judging will be by secret ballot.

GRAND CHAMPION (C) NON-GOSANKECandidate will be selected from the top five (5) Kois from 80 BU and above. When there is notenough suitable Koi, judges shall select Koi from 75 BU. The 3 best Kois out of 5 shall compete forthe NON-GOSANKE CHAMPION. Judging will be by secret ballot.

JUMBO KOI (A) FOR GOSANKE / JUMBO KOI (B) NON-GOSANKE KOIJudges will select the Jumbo Champions from over 85BU. Emphasis shall be on size, body shapeand skeletal structure. Quality and pattern is less important.

ALL CATEGORIES – KOI JUDGINGKois are selected for the 1st 2nd 3rd places for each variety within their respective size groupings.The selected Koi must be truly representative of the respective variety and should the Koi not meetthe required standard; the judges may at their discretion, not to award any prize.

BEST IN SIZE GOSANKE (25 BU TO ABOVE 85 BU)The Best-in-size for the Gosanke (Kohaku, Sanke, Showa,) for each of the above indicated size only.The best in size shall be selected from all the 1st place winners of Gosanke varieties. (For the 80BU,85BU & Over 85BU, if the 4th or 5th placing in the selection of Grand Champion A happens tobe of size 80 BU,85BU & Over 85BU, it shall automatically become the Best in size for 80 BU,85BU & Over 85BU).

BEST IN SIZE - NON-GOSANKE (25 BU TO ABOVE 85 BU)The Best-in-size for the Non-Gosanke for each of the above indicated size only. The best in size shallbe selected from all the 1st place winners of Non-Gosanke varieties. (For the 80 BU,85BU & Over85BU, if the 4th or 5th placing in the selection of Grand Champion B happens to be of size 80BU,85BU & Over 85BU, it shall automatically become the Best in size for 80 BU, 85BU & Over85BU).

SUPERIOR CHAMPION (A) & (B)Judges will select the best in size winner of 80 85 & over 85 BU category to be the SuperiorChampion. The Head Judge will have the casting vote in case of a tie.If the 4th or 5th placing Koi in the selection of Grand Champion A, (B & C) happens to be of size inthe 80 85 & over 85 BU & category, it shall automatically become the Superior Champion forrespective category.

MATURE CHAMPION (A) & (B)Judges will select one Koi from the “Best-In-Size” winners of 70BU and 75BU. The Head Judge willhave casting vote in the event of a tie.


ADULT CHAMPION (A) & (B)Judges will select one Koi from the “Best-In-Size” winners of 55BU, 60BU and 65BU. The HeadJudge will have casting vote in the event of a tie.

YOUNG CHAMPION (A) & (B)Judges will select one Koi from the “Best-In-Size” winners of 40BU, 45BU and 50BU. The HeadJudge will have casting vote in the event of a tie.

BABY CHAMPION (A) & (B)Judges will select one Koi from the “Best-In-Size” winners of 25BU, 30BU and 35BU. The HeadJudge will have casting vote in the event of a tie.

MALE KOIS

GRAND CHAMPION – MALE (A) GOSANKE KOICandidate will be selected from MALE Gosanke Kois from 65BU onwards. The GRANDCHAMPION is selected from the 3 best Kois.If the 4th or 5th placing Koi in the selection of Grand Champion A is a Male koi, it shallautomatically become the Grand Champion Male A.

GRAND CHAMPION – MALE (B) NON-GOSANKE KOICandidate will be selected from MALE Non-Gosanke Kois from 65BU onwards. The GRANDCHAMPION is selected from the 3 best KoisIf the 4th or 5th placing Koi in the selection of Grand Champion B or C is a Male koi, it shallautomatically become the Grand Champion Male B

1ST PRIZE MALE KOIKois are selected for the 1st place for each variety from 65BU onwards. The selected Koi must betruly representative of the respective variety and should the Koi not meet the required standard; thejudges may at their discretion, not to award any prize.
