CLINICAL SKILLSI have performed successfully over 3600 general Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery cases inclusive of 300 joint replacement surgeries and more than 200 arthroscopic surgery. I have performed over 500 spinal surgeries (Discectomy, Decompression & Fusion, Scoliosis, Spondylolisthesis, TB spine etc.) with good outcome.

SURGICAL EXPERTISESpine Surgery

More than 600 spinal surgery (Discectomy, Decompression & Fusion, Scoliosis, Spondylolisthesis, TB spine etc) performed with good outcome

Highlights in Kolkata (2011 - 2015)Fortis HospitalSpine Surgery

I have treated severe spinal fractures with successful outcome. I was the first one to perform Cervical disc replacements for cervical disc disease in this hospital. I performed thoracic spine surgery via both anterior and posterior approaches. The first kyphoplasty for vertebral fracture in Fortis hospital was performed by me. I have introduced Minimally Invasive Spine fusion in this hospital. The first anterior retroperitoneal abdominal fusion of lumbar spine was successfully done by me.

Bone & Joint Surgery I have performed more than 100 primary Knee replacements with 100% success (India). I

have performed for the 1st time in eastern India a 2ndtime revision of Knee replacement (Zimmer RHK with Tantalum cages and allograft) in a severely deformed Rheumatoid arthritis patient with successful outcome. I was the first one to do the first Arthroscopic Revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction surgery in Fortis with a successful outcome. I have performed many complex joint replacements for hip, knee and shoulder with a successful outcome. A good example was an uncemented ceramic on ceramic arthroplasty in a young female patient with severely deformed hip due to ankylosing spondylitis. I have introduced SCARF osteotomy for Hallux Valgus correction for the first time in Kolkata (correct great toe deformity) through a Foot & Ankle workshop in 2011.

OSTEAL HEALTHCARE PVT LTD This healthcare organization was developed with a vision to bridge the gap between

primary and secondary care hospitals in semi-urban and rural areas. As a Founder and Director of the organization, I was overwhelmed with the burden of Osteoporosis in Eastern India. We are developing the comprehensive services for preventing and treating osteoporosis esp. in women. We are also collaborating with local medical companies to do monthly camps for screening Osteoporosis in women and men in the

Page 4: Short CURRICULUM VITAE 26th Jun 2016 UAE

districts. Our team of doctors help in Identifying and treating patients at risk of fracture, but who have not yet sustained a fracture, will substantially reduce the long term burden of osteoporosis. We educate the elderly with regards to the requirement of physical exercise and nutrition. We work in liason with medical companies to provide home based treatment for Osteoporosis. We also provide surgical services for fragility fractures like Hip fracture surgery, wrist fracture reconstructions and spinal vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty for pain relief.

TEACHING &TRAINING EXPERIENCEI consider teaching as a learning experience. To improve my skills I have undergone a teaching course as a part of the core-curriculum at Cardiff University. I have completed ‘Train the Trainer’ course in London in Jun 2015. I consider teaching to be objective and am keen to instill in my students a critical attitude, in keeping with the principles of evidence based Orthopaedics. I am a guide to Post Graduate trainees in Trauma & Orthopaedics for DNB and Assistant Professor in Orthopaedics Surgery at Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, Kolkata. I have started a Spinal unit at Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan for the underprivileged.

Within in a clinical environment my teaching experience includes: Formative lecturing in Orthopaedics Informal teaching and training in wards and clinics as a part of the curriculum in Orthopaedic

surgery for medical students Guiding colleagues (SHOs, Clinical Research Fellows and Registrars) in setting up research

projects Tutoring on a one-to-one basis for registrars taking Post Graduate examinations e.g. FRCS

(T&O) examinations (clinical and viva), DNB examinations Using journal papers as a trigger for further learning amongst colleagues Lecturing in Indian Orthopaedics & Spine Conferences and Orthopaedic Education Meetings

I consistently seek feedback from my teaching session to highlight possible areas for further improvement in my own practice and methods.
