Transformation
Based on student achievement results, and an analysis of the needs and challenges of Shore Acres, the Transformation model was chosen The plan targets two essential areas:
• Interventions to increase learning opportunities
• Accelerate Language Development and Literacy
Transformation Strategies for Shore Acres
Shore Acres, with Mt. Diablo district support, has developed a Transformation Plan with two essential strategies for change.
Essential Strategy 1: Fully develop and implement intervention programs that address student needs in tiers 1, 2 and 3 of the RTI model.
Essential Strategy 2: Fully develop and implement a rigorous language development and literacy program
Improvement Goals
The overall API for all students will reach 700 or above by 2010
Shore Acres will meet AYP targets in Spring of 2010 through safe harbor calculations in Language Arts and Math
Shore Acres will meet all AMAO targets for English learners
Strategy 1: Develop and implement intervention programs for struggling students
Effective August 2010 Reduce class size for students in
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades Develop and Implement a 2nd grade
Readiness class for students who have not mastered 1st grade standards
Expand the implementation of BoardMath from 30% to 100%
Provide coach support in Language Arts and Math
Strategy 1: Develop and implement intervention programs for struggling students
Effective August 2010 Provide “early back” session in August for
selected 1st and 2nd grade students Increase intervention opportunities for
struggling students within the school day and after school
Provide alternate English Language Arts program (Read 180) for 4th and 5th grade students who are far below basic

Other Actions for Transformation
Administer standards-based assessments regularly to all students in Language Arts and Math
Develop and implement schoolwide systems for communicating with parents about student progress in all curricular areas
Provide professional development to teachers for support in new instructional programs and in Professional Learning Communities
Transformation
The Shore Acres community believes: A heavy emphasis on early intervention and intense
language and literacy development will ensure students are proficient in Language Arts and math by 2nd grade
Consistent and full implementation of key strategies such as Board Math, Board Language, and Step up to Writing will accelerate student learning
Support and professional development for teachers will increase the capacity and sustainability for change.
