Fretwork GlasswareOur custom glassware features the “Elfe” fret. This fretwork pattern is featured on a double chest with secretary (1765–1775, Charleston, South Carolina), which is in the collection of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) in Old Salem. This pattern is popularly known as the “Elfe” fret, after the cabinetmaker Thomas Elfe, to whom many pieces of furniture with this decoration have been attributed.

October 15: Harvest Day “Pigs & Pippins”Join Old Salem for Harvest Day when we celebrate two German food favorites: Pork and Apples. The day will be filled with demonstrations and hands-on activities for the whole family. Activities included with All-In-One ticket. 10am–5pm.
November 12:Retail Holiday Open HouseJoin us for our Annual Retail Holiday Open House featuring craftspeople and artisans, food, craft activities, book signings, and music in the Old Salem Visitor Center and retail shops throughout the historic district. Free. 10am–5pm.
December 10: Salem ChristmasAn annual celebration of Moravian traditions in the Historic Town of Salem. Hands-on activities and demonstrations throughout the day from 10am–5pm. At 5:15pm, we will gather on Salem Square for carol singing and lighting the Christmas pyramid. Activities are included with an All-In-One ticket.
