The Eighth Day

In the Torah, the "eighth day" symbolizes a new beginning.The seventh day brings the Sabbath and the conclusion of the preceding week. The eighth day is the first day of the new week. After seven years, anew Sabbatical cycle begins.

The Sequestering

For the seven days of their ordination, Aaron and his sons remained sequestered in the Tabernacle. Theycould not leave, lest they die.

This sequestering helped to guarantee that the new initiates would not contract any ritual impurity during their inauguration.
