Sri Shiva Stuti by Lord Rama – Brahma Puranam || : - - || K. Muralidharan ([email protected]) 1 The following is a rare hymn on Lord Shiva by Lord Rama appearing in Brahma Puranam, Tirtha Mahatmya, and Chapter 123 (as part of Rama Tirtha Varnanam). This chapter explains the circumstances in which Dasharatha fights with Devas against Asuras and Kaikeyi gets three boons which she chooses to avail at a later time. It also explains where King Dasharatha also has to stay in hell due to three acts of Brahmahatya, which has no redemption. Sita Devi suggests that Lord Rama, Lakshmana and she herself could take the fruits of those three Brahma hatyas so that King Dasharatha could be redeemed from hell. But King Dasharatha mentions that there is no need for such a sacrifice and he could be easily redeemed if Lord Rama could perform Snana and Pinda Dana in river Gautami/Ganga (in a place to be known as Rama Tirtha). When Lord Rama performs Snana and Pinda Dana, King Dasharatha is immediately relieved from hell and reaches Svarga. Pleased with this Lord Rama installs Sri Maheshvara (Lord Shiva) in that place and prays him with the following stuti. Pleased with his prayer Lord Shiva grants the boon which Lord Rama seeks – that one who takes bath in Rama Tirtha and offers Pinda Dana to ancestors, they get relieved from hell (if they are at hell) and attains fulfillment of all desires after wiping out all sins. - | || 1 || | || 2 || | || 3 || | || 4 ||

The following is a rare hymn on Lord Shiva by Lord Rama appearing in Brahma

Puranam, Tirtha Mahatmya, and Chapter 123 (as part of Rama Tirtha Varnanam). This

chapter explains the circumstances in which Dasharatha fights with Devas against Asuras

and Kaikeyi gets three boons which she chooses to avail at a later time. It also explains

where King Dasharatha also has to stay in hell due to three acts of Brahmahatya, which has

no redemption. Sita Devi suggests that Lord Rama, Lakshmana and she herself could take

the fruits of those three Brahma hatyas so that King Dasharatha could be redeemed from

hell. But King Dasharatha mentions that there is no need for such a sacrifice and he could

be easily redeemed if Lord Rama could perform Snana and Pinda Dana in river

Gautami/Ganga (in a place to be known as Rama Tirtha). When Lord Rama performs Snana

and Pinda Dana, King Dasharatha is immediately relieved from hell and reaches Svarga.

Pleased with this Lord Rama installs Sri Maheshvara (Lord Shiva) in that place and prays him

with the following stuti. Pleased with his prayer Lord Shiva grants the boon which Lord

Rama seeks – that one who takes bath in Rama Tirtha and offers Pinda Dana to ancestors,

they get relieved from hell (if they are at hell) and attains fulfillment of all desires after

wiping out all sins.
