Shepherd’s Maternity Home recently held its 10th Valentine Celebra-

tion fundraiser in Monroe County. SMH answers the immediate

need in Monroe County to shelter pregnant women. It is a place

where expectant mothers can live in an atmosphere of love and secu-

rity, care and support.

Young mothers-to-be receive instructions on prenatal, maternal care,

as well as nutrition. They are given the opportunity to learn parent-

ing skills and receive counseling and job training.

Domestic skills such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting are empha-

sized. Assistance is also provided to help the young women who

have not completed their high school or vocational school education.
