FINAL PROJECTOF THE SEMESTER
i The project is about designing an office for the book publisher – Taschen at the top two floors (10th & 11th floor) of the Pepsico Building. The identity of Pop Art as a mixture of high art and mass culture is closely linked to Taschen’s principle of publishing innovative and beautifully designed books at popular prices, that is why Pop Art elements (esp. Roy Lichtenstein’s) fills the office space of Taschen. The transmutation between 2D and 3D, black, white and primary colors as the color strategy, trick of real & fake scenes are the main means transforming Pop Art’s graphic elements to actual 3D space, while creating a modern, active, innovative and jocose working environment.

FIRST PROJECT OF THE SEMESTER
The project is about enhancing one’s understanding of the concept of “style” by analyzing the spatial, social, cultural significance of a given residence, synthesizing information and representing it graphically by designing a coherent and didactic exhibition. As the main concept of Stretto House, the idea of "overlap, light & shadow" is applied in many aspects, for example, the huge roof structure, which is formed by several overlapping rectangular metal panels in various angles. The exhibition not only presents the house’s design clearly, but also transforms the concept of the house to the design of the exhibition.

iii The project is about designing and fabricatinga chair from one sheet of 3/4” x 4’ x 8’ plywood.And the chair is to be CNC (Computer NumericControl.) The aim of this project is to create a chair with modern beauty and maximize the comfortand stableness under the limitation of the material. Therefore, the dowel joint is applied as the only method to assemble the chair.

THE QUILTRETIREMENT CENTERFALL 2012
PROJECT OF THE SEMESTER
iv The project is a design proposal for the elderly community in a given site, with the consideration of their physical and mental needs. The aim of this project is to create a place that allows for the elderly to enjoy their old age and stay in touch with their community, while still maintaining a sense of independence, identity and privacy. In order to achieve this aim, the residential zone is formed by a communicative and flexible living system that is built up by planes and boxes and connects by the pathways and stairs. The skewed and irregularly cut-out floor plans overlaps to introduce ample sunshine; the space that is not overlapped serves as places for social life and introduction of vegetation.
