1 SHERSHAAH8th Sep 2016, the dramatics club of Gautam Buddha University organized a theatrical event “SHERSHAAH” a biopic of Amar Shaheed Capt Vikram Batra, with the blessings of his parents and other family members, enthusiastically witnessed by the hon’ble vice- chancellor, registrar, the other dignitaries and a houseful audience. His parents Mr. G.L.Batra and Mrs. Kamal Kant Batra were cordially invited to attend the invited but, but due to personal reasons, they were unable to grace us with their presence "SHERSHAAH" was organized under the esteemed guidance Prof. Shweta Anand and coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Sharma performed by Archana Theatre Group, Directed by Arpit Kaushik. “SHERSHAAH”

8th Sep 2016, the dramatics club of Gautam Buddha University organized a theatrical event

“SHERSHAAH” a biopic of Amar Shaheed Capt Vikram Batra, with the blessings of his parents

The makers of “shershaah”- Arpit Kaushik (Director, Writer) and Ankit Sharma(Asst. Director) in a

meeting with Mr. G.L. Batra and Mrs. Kamal Kant Batra at their residence Luv Kush Villa, Palampur,

Himanchal Pradesh. The collage shows the Param Veer Chakra , Capt Batra’s Cap placed on the top

of the flag that wrapped his dead body arrived and his residence.

The play begins as Batra family visits Kashmir to attend a conference to held in the memory of Lt Capt Vikram Batra. Actors- Adit Srivastava (Capt. Naveen Nagappa), Shubhanshu Kumar (Mr. G.L.Batra), Akanksha Chaturvedi (Mrs. Kamal Kant Batra) and Ankit Sharma (Mr Vishal Batra)

Vishal Batra highlights the life events of his twin brother and the scene goes into flashback with

the flow of his sentiments.

Akshita Chauhan portrayed the role of Capt Batra’s girlfriend who decided to remain unmarried

after her love got martyred for his country.

The play also had elements of humor depicting the jolly nature of Capt Batra.

Capt Vikram Batra recieves his code name “SHERSHAAH” as war strategy.

Capt Batra’s victory signal was “Ye dil maange more” which he had to shout after having

conquered peak 5140.

Shershaah captured the peak 5140 without any casualties in his troops. As a result he was

promoted to “Captain” immediately. Journalist Barkha Dutt (Arushi Gupta) once captured his

last glimpses.

Shershaah boosting up the moral of his fellow soldiers before their final attack on peak 4875,

the most important turning point of operation Vijay.

Shershaah once said “Ya to jeet ka tiranga lehraa kar aaunga ya usi tirange mein lipta chala

aaunga”

As his most trusted guy Col Joshi commands shershaah to rescue an injured soldier and

conquer peak 4875, a risky task. Shershaah assured him of his victory.

Enemy knew him by name. Capt Batra replied to a taunt by a pakistani militant about Madhuri

Dixit “ Sorry Madhuri ji to abhi busy hain par tumhare dafan k lye bhot kuch hai mere paas”

showing his presence of mind and maintaining an element of humor in such a critical situation.

Shershaah killed 3 soldiers in a hand to hand combat before a militant shot him from behind

causing his demise.

Capt. Batra laid his life for the safety, honor and pride of his country. His last words

were “jai mata di” after passing his victory signal and hoisting the tricolor at peak 4875

now called as Batra Top in his respect.

Archana Theatre Group received standing ovation from the audience for their

superb act, for the first time in the history of GBU.

All the actors, back stage team- prop and stage design team (Vaibhav, Akash,

Shubhankar, Avish), prop designing team (Arushi & Pushpita), music director (Anant),

lights person (Harshit), P R Team (Akshay Sinha)and especially Harshit Verma for all his

assistance) coordinated extremely well to produce this act after a two and a half month

long practice and over one year of scripting.

The team expresses heartfelt gratitude to Chairperson, Cultural Committee Prof. Shweta

Anand for her tremendous support and faith in them .
