Principal’s NotesWelcome to September! At this point, our students are deeply immersed in school work, participating in co-curricular activities, and assisting with our many service projects. To our many parent volunteers, know your time, effort, and energy is greatly appreciated by all of us at SHS. If you have not had the opportunity to see our subtle “picture updates,” take a look in the office and hallway your next visit.

Homecoming is coming!!!! We are looking forward to full week of Home-coming activities the week of September 23-27; culminating in the dance on September 28 from 7:00-10:00 in our commons. Join us in reminding students to make safe and healthy decisions at all times, but especially during “school dance season.”

I am encouraging you to join us at Parent - Teacher Conferences October 9 and 10. Conferences will be held Wednesday, October 9 and Thurs-day, October 10 from from 2:10-6:30 p.m. Report cards will be avail-able for pick up as you arrive. Both October 9 and 10 will have an early dismissals at 1:00. School is not in session on Friday, October 11. You can always access your student’s grades through our web-based Infinite Campus on-line grading system. JH Principal’s NotesHello Parents and Guardians,

The school year is off to a great start! We are all excited to have stu-dents back in our classrooms and hallways; filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed and a part of the Sherrard Jr. High family.

The year has started out great with minimal behavior referrals. As a reminder , the Junior High re - initiated PBIS and the expectations are: Be Safe , Be Responsible, Be Respectful. The JH staff is dispersing “Tiger Bucks” for students exhibiting those traits in the school setting. Thank you to the parents for reinforcing those expectations at home:)

We will continue to send out information on Facebook about all of the great activities at the Jr. High. Sports events and important dates will be Sherrard JH website in the Calendar section. There will also be information posted in this monthly Newsletter.



The first JH Football and Girl’s Basketball games are Tues. Sept 17th. Come on out and cheer on the Tigers!

Jostens - Graduation Orders & Class RingsSeniors~Jostens will be here September 5th at B and C lunch, to collect gradua-tion orders, from the August 29th meeting.

Sophomores~There is a class ring meeting at 7:45am on September 5th in the audito-rium. These orders will be due on September 12th, a Jostens represen-tative will be available at lunch.

8th Grade Washington DC TripAll Sherrard 8th grade students are invited to attend a meeting that will be held for those interested in going on the 8th grade WASHINGTON DC trip in June of 2020. This informational meeting will be held in the Jr/Sr High school library at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11th. Information will be handed out and registration will start directly follow-ing the meeting. This trip is paid for by the student and their family. Tiger ClosetThe Tiger Closet is a resource for students in need at Sherrard School District. It is located in room E15 at the Jr. Sr. High School. We are proud to be continuing our resource for the second year. We stock cloth-ing for teens, school supplies, and hygiene products. We also partner with Riverbend Food Bank to distribute food supplies on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. We have been able to support our stu-dents in need through many generous donations from our community. Our STEP students, NHS students and staff provide many volunteer hours to sort, organize and staff our closet. We know the closet is truly making a difference for some of our students and families in need, and we are extremely grateful for the support. If you would like to make a do-nation, there is a list of needed items on the high school website. Cash donations to the Tiger Closet can also be made to the school. Donations can be dropped off at the high school during school hours. If you would like to have reminders for dates that the Tiger Closet is open, you can sign up for receive a text message on remind by entering 81010 and text this message: @tigerclos.

FASFA MeetingSenior parents: If you are interested in learning more about FAFSA and the application process, there are 2 opportunities: September 11th at 6pm in the Sherrard High School auditorium, and September 30th at 6:30pm in the Rockridge High School auditorium. There will be a repre-sentative from ISAC to answer any questions. Please contact Mrs. Drish at the high school if you have any questions.

PSAT/NMSQT for JuniorsEach year, Sherrard High School offers the PSAT/NMSQT test to the juniors in the fall as an optional college preparatory test. All juniors will receive a letter in the mail regarding this test. Anyone interested in tak-ing the test needs to see Mrs. Drish in the guidance office. Deadline to register is September 6th.
