    Narrative

    This is a joint press release from the Walworth County Sheriffs Office and the WalworthCounty Department of Public Works.

    Walworth County is currently under a Winter Storm WARNING, which means that conditions

    are favorable for heavy snow to develop and road conditions will deteriorate quickly. Thiswarning is from 6am through 6pm on Monday. The latest forecast is for 4-7 inches of snow

    during this short amount of time. Winds may increase which may result in very low visibility

    and white-out conditions in some areas. Reduce your speeds accordingly.

    Sheriff David Graves wants everyone in Walworth County to be aware of the upcoming snow

    event, and issues the following reminders:

    Give snow plows a wide berth, and stay back at least 200 feet from any plow. Plowsoften back up at intersections, and may turn right or left at intersections without being in

    that particular turn lane.

    If your travel plans are flexible, you may want to consider postponing unnecessarytravel during this event. If you do choose to drive, have the necessary blankets, food,water, etc. in your vehicle. For a complete list of what you should carry in your vehicle,

    If you are involved in a crash, do NOT get out of your vehicle. Remain seated withyour seatbelt fastened and call 911.

    Notify friends or family members if you choose to drive. Be sure and give them theroute you plan on traveling. Do not text while driving to or from your destination, andask your family or friends to not text you while you are driving either. It can wait.

    BARFF Bridges and Ramps Freeze First Do not operate your cruise control during a snow event. It can cause you to lose control

    of your vehicle. Enabling your four wheel drive does not allow you to stop any quicker,

    nor does it mean that you should overdrive the weather conditions.

    Remain vigilant to changing weather conditions and check with local media for thelatest updates in your area.

    If your car is blocking plows, it will be towed immediately. If your car ends up in theditch, it may need to remain there until it is safe for law enforcement and the tow truckto retrieve it after the event has passed.
