Changes in the 14th and 15th centuries:– Hereditary nobles replaced by

merchant princes whose commercial empires spread throughout Europe

– Trade, and banking, played a central role in society

– Gunpowder: changed the relations between nations

– Invention of compass + new shipbuilding methods allowed for the expansion of the known world

– Movable type in printing helped spread ideas

In history, we will see changes in the style of architecture changing because of various events, inventions, ideologies, power and of course architects and designers who will shape the form and function of buildings

A point of reference

THE CLASSICS KEEPS COMING BACK

sheridancollege.ca

The ideology of purity in architecture reached fever pitch when the moderns during the international style stripped all of ornamental components in a building and declared less is more

To International Style
