More than a third of all major fire damage in industry and commerce occur in the warehouse. We developed the fire safety shelf in order to fight the fire already in its formation phase and to limit the damage as far as possible.
With a perforation percentage of 50 %, the sprinkler system is able to quickly start the extinguishing process at all warehouse levels.

» The right space for big and small
Spare parts warehouse for forestry vehicles and construction site equipment
Agricultural and construction machinery are huge pieces of equipment. Many of their spare parts are bulky, heavy and anything but a standard size. The company, Atlas Kern, needed a flexible and high-performance storage system for these items without compromising small parts storage. The combination of spare parts with a fast turnover and ones that were only rarely required also demand-ed effortless handling processes and high capacities, to ensure high availability at all times.
These demands were implemented by our specialist trade partner. They planned a storage system with MULTIplus150 shelves to handle load capacities of to 150 kg. A pallet rack system was integrat-ed to handle particularly heavy parts.
But space and load capacities were by far not the only requirements for Atlas Kern. The system had to be very flexible to ensure loose or individually packaged parts could be safely stored. 800 mm deep, rows of shelving with two-sided access also cleared this hurdle. An easy-to-use warehouse sys-tem was created; strong and deep enough to safely house the widest range of different spare parts.
Moreover the entire storage system was galvanised and fitted with wire mesh to prevent items falling out. This guarantees safe and orderly storage. The open structure of the system and the underside of the white coated chipboard in the 1st and 2nd stories provide good lighting conditions throughout the entire shelving system.
Atlas Kern sells and leases construction and agricultural machines. If the heavy equipment needs to be repaired, the dealers rely on a stock of spare parts that is unrivalled in its scope. Whether for standard applications or the rare ex-ceptions – Atlas Kern has the right part in stock. With more than 30,000 articles, it was high time for a new warehouse.

What makes a storage system into an growth engine?
» With corporate growth also comes an increase in the need for organisation and order. A good storage system promotes further growth by ensuring that warehousing is seamlessly integrated into production process and that the internal workflows are right.
How did you proceed?
» We worked closely together with Turbo-Mot – from the planning phase through to implemen-tation and together developed a customised solution. 700 m2 of storage area on 110 m2 floor area was thus created.
How does this benefit Turbo-Mot and the end customer?
» Turbo-Mot can take advantage of a much improved warehouse logistics. Everything runs much more smoothly and the work stations are more attractive. This creates a good im-
pressions for the visitors and motivates employees. The end customer get their goods quicker as the employees are saved a good deal of running around and unnecessary searching for individual parts. Moreover they also benefit from increased availability.
There is simply more space for spare parts.
Reconditioned turbochargers are in demand. Cause for celebration for the East Westphalia-based company Turbo-Mot. But also for growing pains, as their storage system simply could not cope with annual volumes of 7,500 turbochargers. The situation resulted in bottlenecks both in the warehouse and in work processes.
This is where SCHULTE Lagertechnik came into play. By planning and erect-ing a new, two-storey stock block, space was created to allow the company to grow once more. From goods receipt to collection, everything was inte-grated into two separate shelving systems, some of which was dust-proof. Distances were reduced, workstations were moved directly to the warehouse and employees could get their hands on everything quicker than before.
The new arrangement also sends out a signal to customers, as they see that order and cleanliness matter. Speaking of signals: the corporate colour red forms the primary colour of the storage system. As a result, everyone who
enters the warehouse, finds themselves surrounded by the corporate design. Turbo-Mot displays a uniform overall appearance – that
certainly makes an impression.
It's actually quite simple: the larger the warehouse, the more space it has to grow. But what if all the space has been used up? Then it's a case of optimising processes and increasing their efficiency. That is exactly what happened to Turbo-Mot in its special-ist workshop for turbochargers.

» Safe and compact Mezzanine systems in cube design
After sales service is increasingly gaining
in importance for business-to-business.
When a company grows, so too do re-
quirements. In particular global players on
the world markets must adapt their own
processes to the continuously changing
conditions.
This challenge was faced by an apparatus
and equipment manufacturer in the field
of environmental technology. The medi-
um-sized company wants to lay the foun-
dations for long-term partnerships with
their excellent service activities with cus-
tomers. This should include a whole range
of after-sales services, short routes and fast
reaction times – all from one source.
Anew warehouse was designed to ensure
the equipment manufacturer is able to
supply its customers with spare parts all
around the globe. The goal was to create
more space for more parts, achieve faster
workflows and retain the option of being
able to flexibly react to new situations.
A requirements analysis on site quickly
determined that a warehouse based on
a mezzanine system, shelving and pallet
racking was the ideal solution. Thanks
to a three-storey construction, it is now
possible to utilise the entire space of the
existing warehouse. The load capacity
of the mezzanine is 1,000 kg per square
metre. The compact cube with 264 m2,
floor space offers 764 m2 of storage space.
This means the storage area was able to
be tripled. Large storage reserves could be
created already during the first expan-
sion stage thanks to the additional space
savings.
All parts are located in the smallest
space in the one location in the cube.
Two staircases and transfer stations with
self-locking wing doors make it easy for
the required items to be located by the
employees. Long routes are no longer nec-
essary for the fast-movers: they are stored
ready to hand on the ground floor.
1700 MULTIplus250 shelves are used to
store small parts. The plug-in system en-
ables a fast reaction time if requirements
change. When it came to colour, the
customer also had free choice: the steel
parts are in RAL 7035 light grey, while the
chipboard flooring is coated in “stone”
anti-slip surfacing. The underside of the
layers remains white to increase the light
yield. To protect the stock items from un-
authorised access, the ground level is com-
pletely enclosed by mesh-wire partitioning.
Access is only through the two-metre-wide
sliding gate, which is secured by access
control.
The individual solution, based on the
compact mezzanine system, allows the
equipment manufacturer to compact their
storage area and create an extendable,
future-proof warehouse solution. It is the
basis and the precondition for efficient
spare parts supply and perfect all-round
service worldwide.

Customised production offers the optimum solution
The modern shop concept allows station-ary B-to-B commerce to achieve growth. Proof of this comes from the production supply dealers, Coenen, who, together with SCHULTE Lagertechnik completely rede-signed their sales space in Neuss and increased its sales area to 1300 m2.
Since then, not only can all articles be stocked here in sufficient quantities, it has been possible to create a strong buying in-centive for the customers, thanks to the style of goods presentation. The central design element of this is the mezzanine system by SCHULTE Lagertechnik. Using a modular principle, a U-shaped gallery has been built along the walls of the Coenen building; thus creating additional exhibition space. Using a special construction, the railings are made completely out of glass and stainless steel without any kind of columns. Because the guardrails are see-through, it is possible to look up from below into the upper storey and view the
articles presented there. This transforma-tion has created a modern, light-flooded sales room, which, with its premium-quality industrial design of steel and glass, reflects the trends of the time and perfectly displays the goods at centre stage.
The new shop is a sales outlet and a show-room in one, and presents the Coenen product range in the best possible light. The shop thus reflects the identity of the company and plays an important role in company strategy.
For the modern architectural design, the mezzanine system was selected as the central design element for the shop, after consultation with SCHULTE Lagertechnik. The exceptional concept not only created an additional exhibition space of 331 m2, but, thanks to the customised production, perfectly found the right balance between functionality and upscale industrial design.

Steel mezzanines can multiply the storage area so that stockrooms do not need to be enlarged. These mezzanines are custom-produced accord-ing to the customers’ specified dimensions.
They are manufactured from warm- or cold-rolled steel profiles. The steel mezzanines are
supplied in blue as standard. Other colours are available on request.
The mezzanine flooring is available alternatively as chipboard in 38 mm thickness or as galva-nised wire mesh. Option of load capacities from 250 up to 1,200 kg/m2 and more.
