DescriptionSHEETROCK® Brand Setting-Type JointCompounds (EASY SAND®) for drywall interiorspermit same-day joint finishing, and, usually,next-day decoration. Easy Sand compounds arelightweight for easy handling and sand easilyfor fast, smooth finishing. They are also idealfor heavy fills and are virtually unaffected byhumidity, providing low shrinkage and superiorbond, which make them excellent for laminatinggypsum panels to gypsum panels, and toabove-grade concrete surfaces (dot & dab). Inaddition, SHEETROCK® Brand Setting-Type JointCompounds can be used for filling, smoothing, and finishing interior concrete ceilings andabove-grade concrete. The suffix numberidentifying each joint compound indicates anapproximate setting time. EASY SAND 20 setsin approximately 20-30 minutes; EASY SAND45 in approximately 30-80 minutes; and EASYSAND 90 in approximately 85-130 minutes.

AdvantagesLightweight formula.Weighs 25% less than conventional setting-type joint compounds. Handling and applicationis simpler, easier, and faster.

Easy sanding.Unlike conventional setting-type jointcompounds, these compounds sand easily-similar to SHEETROCK® Brand Ready MixedJoint Compounds. Joint finishing is faster, easier, smoother.

Saves time and money. These compounds provide important labour andmaterial cost reductions. One-day finishing withnext-day decoration ensures rapid jobcompletion and earlier occupancy. Choice ofsetting times aids work flow.

Quickly mixed for immediate use.Easy to mix-simply combine with water and stir.Compounds are applied after short soakingperiod and remixing.

Resists shrinkage and edge-cracking.Compounds tolerate small amounts of excesswater that would otherwise cause delayedshrinkage. Fill and finish coats can be appliedwhen compound is hard-but still damp-withminimum danger of delayed shrinkage andcracking.

DecoratingFor painting and decorating, followmanufacturer's directions for materials used.

Product dataMaterial: Vinyl-type formulation.Types: Hand application.Freezing Sensitivity: None after set.Water Dilution: Approx 56 - 69 ltr

water / 100kg or 4.6 -5.6 ltr water per 8.1kgbag. Refer to bag forspecific directions. Settingaction cannot be delayedor prevented by excessdilution with water.

Coverage: Approximately25.3kg/100m2 ofgypsum panels or 32m2

of gypsum panels per bag.Storage: Shelf life up to 6 months

under good storageconditions. Store at roomtemperature in a drylocation. Protect fromfreezing, exposure toextreme heat and directsunlight. Close open bagsas tightly as possible toprevent contaminationwhich could affectperformance.

Packaging: 8.1 kg bags.Colour: NaturalDensity: 513kg/m3

Resists humidity changes.Setting rates are virtually unaffected by highhumidity or changes in humidity.Application can be made in damp weatherwhen drying-type compounds would delayjob completion.

Multiple use.Compounds are also excellent for patching andsmoothing interior drywall and concretesurfaces because they provide superior bond, low shrinkage, and fast setting-action.

PreparationPosition and apply Gypsum Panels inaccordance with manufacturer'srecommendations. In cold weather and duringgypsum panel joint finishing, temperatureswithin the building shall be maintained at aminimum 13°C. Adequate ventilation shall beprovided to carry off excess moisture.Mix contents to the correct dilution inaccordance with instruction on bag.SHEETROCK® Brand Setting-Type JointCompounds are not to be applied over moistsurfaces or surfaces likely to become moist,or on below-grade surfaces or surfacesprojecting outside building structure unlessprotected from direct exposure to moisture.

ApplicationCover joint with a thin layer of compound andembed tape, leaving about 1mm of compoundunder feathered edge. SHEETROCK® BrandSetting-Type Compounds are more difficult tosmooth after drying than conventional drying-type compounds and should be smoothedbefore set or while they are in a damp but setstate. Let dry, sand lightly. Apply second coat, feathering approximately 5cm beyond first coat.Sand lightly as required when dry. Finishfastener heads, corner bead, and inside cornersas required with at least three coats, featheredout onto panel faces and finished to a smoothsurface. It is recommended that all joints, fasteners and beads be sanded beforedecorating. Remove any sanding dust fromsurface. If smoothing and dry sanding, usenothing coarser than 100-grit sandpaper.Alternatively, finishing coats can be appliedusing SHEETROCK® Brand Ready MixedJoint Compounds.
