Women's World Summit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Beneficiary of the Program Supporting Women Entrepreneurs

in Agriculture 2012-2015 Mrs. Fatime Limaj

    June 2013,

Women's World Summit was held in Kuala

Lumpur, Malaysia, where 1100 women from 70

different countries participated. In this summit

the Republic of Kosovo was represented by the

    president, Mrs.Atifete Jahjaga, Mrs. Mirlinda

    Kusari Purrini, representative of Women's

Network of Kosovo (Executive director of SHE-

ERA), and Mrs. Afrdita Saraqini Kelmendi,

President of Women's Economic Chamber in

    Kosovo.

The summit was a combination of the public, private and non-governmental sectors uniononizing on the basis of a common

vision to expand the global economic opportunities for women through the exchange of strategic options and the ongoing

work of women leaders from different parts of the world. Through an annual forum, research, round-table discussion and

other programs, the purpose of Women's Global Summit was promoting and informing women entrepreneurs, as well as

empowering them economically.Plenary sessions and panels were of high significance, where we had the opportunity to meet and exchange experiences

with other women leaders from the government or businesses, and become aware of women positions on a global level.

Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture are still very thriving in their area yielding positive results after

successfully finishing the three-month trainings with the topic: How to start a successful business.

Mrs.Limaj and her family have a long tradition in some of the agricultural sectors, such as: fruit cultivation, especially strawberries both naturally and artificially, vegetable cultivation, in particular peppers, and also

handcrafting. In November, 2009, Mrs.Fatime Limaj, established the association Fatjona, which is still

    operating to this day.

The association Fatjona is managed by Fatime Limaj. This association has 26 regular members, who during

the summer season are usually engaged with vegetable cultivation and conservation, while many of them carry

out handcrafting activities during the winter. In the beginning, the association was supported by the Ministry of

Agriculture with seedlings, while CDF assisted with appliances needed for artificial cultivation.

It is hard to secure market safety and stability indicates Fatime, because of the absence of motivating

politics for small and family businesses. It is more than necessary to continuously contribute to theadvancement of production and conservation technologies, according to the market standards and

    requirements.

Currently, Mrs.Limaj is a member of SHE-ERA's, and is continuously aware of our activities.
