Death Date: March 24, 2019

Larry was born on June 29, 1932 in Roswell, NM. Not long after his birth his

family moved to Texas where he graduated high school. In 1953 he was

drafted into the US Army trained as a Combat Engineer stationed in West

Germany. While attending Texas A&M he married the love of his life Rose-

mary on Sept. 7, 1956.

After graduating college with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy he was em-

ployed by the Bureau of Land Management in Texas and in 1961 they moved

to Prescott, AZ to work for the US Forest Service as a soil scientist, later relo-

cating to Santa Fe, NM and in 1971 Medford, OR.

Larry retired in 1990, then he and Rosemary became full-time snowbirds

traveling to Yuma every winter. He loved rock hounding, RVing, reading,

quilting, traveling and dancing. After moving to Central Point, they joined

the Rogue River Rooster Good Sam RV club where he acquired many forever

friends. He was an avid and great story teller.

Larry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary; one daughter and two

sons, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

At the 2019 Oregon Good Sam Rally/Samboree

Here are just a few…..

Bring your favorite sewing, knitting, crochet or craft supplies. It’s a

great chance to relax, meet new people and share time with old friends.

Caren Farber will have a class on painted quilt squares again this year.

Start a new project or complete the one you started last year. Caren’s

contact number is 541.517.1093

Mable Moist will lead a “Sip and Paint” group this year. You will be sip-

ping an alcohol free beverage and painting a picture on canvas. Mabel’s

contact number is 503.341.9589.

Leilani and Larry Chartier will be demonstrating small sewing projects in

the Craft and Sewing Area. Don’t forget to bring your sewing machines,

scissors, etc. to Rally/Samboree. The sewing/craft area will be open all

day long.

Class (more advanced than last year) instructed by Jolene Boyd. Class will

address shading, borders and original design construction. Beginners are

welcome to observe. $5 per student supply charge. Jolene’s contact

number is 503.390.7502. Call her to sign up.

Would you like to know how to save a life? Have you thought about tak-

ing a CPR/AED class but just haven’ found the time? Your opportunity is

here. Roseburg EMT Russ Jones will be the instructor. There is a $20.00

per person fee for the class. There is an additional $20.00 charge if you

would like a Red Cross Certification Card. For the class to occur we need

at least 10 people to sign up. Coordinated by Connie Morrill, WyEast As-

sistant State Director. Connie’s contact number is 503.913.2671 and her

email is [email protected]. Payment for the class must be received no

later than May 1, 2019.

This year the Food Drive is a contest. Bring non-perishable food items and

drop them off at the table near Rally Registration. Your Registration pack-

et will include entry forms for the Food Drive drawing. You must be pre-

sent at recognition night to win. You also must be able to transport the

food to your charity of choice.

This is just the beginning list of activities. We will continue to add to this list as the Rally/

Samboree gets closer and more people volunteer their ideas and talents.
