Accounts Payable – challenges of traditional approaches
Driven by its commitment to continuous improvement, Shawcor
identifi ed that its existing Accounts Payable process was impacting the
company’s overall customer experience, customer value and effi ciency.

which made it labor-intensive as well as time-consuming. In addition to
the extra time and human resource cost, the company implemented
a largely manual and mitigating control system and procedures to

The Pagero solution
Shawcor selected Pagero’s open, cloud-based network
to automate its Accounts Payable processes, which was
aligned with Shawcor’s objectives to streamline fi nancial
processes, enhance productivity and reduce costs.
“Before the implementation, we worked in a two-step
system. One person had to manually verify all the
information in our OCR system before it was sent into

vendors’ invoices from select businesses and locations are
now being processed through Pagero Online, resulting in
us already achieving an almost 30% reduction in invoice
processing cycle times and costs. As the number of our
suppliers joining the network increases each week, these

Pagero enables Shawcor to receive all invoices
electronically, regardless of whether their suppliers use
electronic invoicing. By partnering with Pagero, Shawcor
was able to off er multiple invoice delivery modes to its
suppliers, including PDF invoicing.

In 2017, Shawcor commenced operations on the Sur De
Texas-Tuxpan Gas Pipeline project – a 497 mile (800km)
pipeline running from the U.S. to Mexico.
As one of the largest projects ever undertaken by Shawcor,
it involved 56,400 coated pipes produced across 3 coating
sites and 3 mobile sites.
“During this project, Shawcor’s AP team processed over
10,000 invoices from more than 1,000 suppliers. Pagero’s
automated AP solution helped us maintain operational
effi ciency and contain costs, despite the large scale of
this project,” says Imad Barake, Vice President Finance -
