Nationally known canoe-builder and instructor, Jerry Stelmok, will instruct a small class in the building of a 17 1/2' Thurlow-designed guide boat of wood-canvas construction. Wood-canvas canoes represent a technique used since the 1880s. Many consider this the finest technique for building a lightweight and strong canoe. Wood­working experience necessary.

Jerry Stelmok has written a number of articles and books on canoe-building, including the newly published The Wood-Canvas Canoe, co-authored with Rollin Thurlow.

Marty Loken, of Aperture Photo Bank, is a founding member of the Center for Wooden Boats, and is the photographer for the 1988 and 1989 Classic Boat Calendar published by Landmark Calenders.
