Get to your page for EditingSelect your web page by using the Staff Directory pull down menu
Choose Teacher and Departments, Your Department, then your
name
Your web page will appear
Enter edit mode by selecting the Page Properties pull down menu and
choose check-out and edit page option
The top of the edit page screen indicates the title that will appear on the
page
The middle of the edit page screen is what appears on your home page
The bottom of the edit page shows page ownership. You MUST change
that to your name – DO THAT NOW and check the box to propogate
In edit mode, you can enter text and tables just as you would in a word
document. Font style, sizes and color may all be applied

Importing Images
NOTE: the size of the picture is of great
importance!!!!!!!!!!! It is best to resize the
picture BEFORE you begin the import
procedure. You can use software of your
choice to do this. (Picnik.com and MS
Office Picture Manager work well) If you
change width and height from within the
SharpSchool software, the picture may
become distorted or high resolution
pictures will take a long time to load
To import an imageClick in the middle portion of edit page.
Choose the icon for Image Manager from the tools
A screen will appear listing all folders in image manager. You will need to
choose the Staff Folder, then your department folder, then create a folder to
store your data in (see next slide)
To create own data folder – make sure you are in
department folderChoose the icon for New folder on toolbar
On new window that appears, type your name as the folder name
Double click on your folder to open it
To upload an imageChoose the upload icon
On new window, press Select button
Another window will appear that allows you to browse for and open the
image you are uploading (this will be the saved “optimized” image)
Once document name is in selection area, press the upload button at the
bottom of the screen (be patient)
To complete uploadOnce image is displayed in side panel, choose Properties tab for the image
You must enter an Alt tag for the picture (basic description)
Once complete, press insert – you may move picture around on your page
Save vs. PublishOnce you have made changes that you
want to keep, you must choose save or
publish
Save – will save the changes in you
history, but will not make information “live”
for viewing (Note: you can make the page
live by choosing Publish, or you can go to
View History selection under Page
Properties column menu to activate page
Publish – will save the changes and make
the new information “live” for public
viewing
Documents
Before uploading documents to the web
page, be sure to save the document in
PDF format.
This allows all users to view your
documents regardless of the version of
Office they may have on their computer.
Load document in Document ManagerChoose the Document Manager from the tool area
Create a folder for yourself just as you did in Image Manager
Choose the upload icon
Choose Select to brows for the document to be uploaded
Choose the Upload button to complete upload
Close dialog box
Linking this document to text on a pagePlace cursor where you want text to appear on web page
Choose Document Manager icon from toolbar
Browse to your folder
Click on the document you wish to use
Enter correct Link Text that will appear on web page
Change Target to “New Window”
The tooltip is a basic description
Choose Insert NOW PUBLISH PAGE or SAVE this work!
Insert Hyperlink
Place cursor where you want hyperlink to appear
Choose Hyperlink Icon from Toolbar
Enter URL, Link Text, Target – “New Window”, Tool Tip
Press OK
Copy and Paste from Word
(to keep proper formatting)Copy text or table from Word document
Place cursor in web page
Choose the Word document paste Icon from the toolbar
Ctrl V (paste) data in this area
Highlight the data and choose format stripper button on toolbar (choose last
item – strip word formatting)
Continue entering dataAt this point, enter the remainder of the required
information as you wish
Can be on the home page, or you can create other
pages more specific to the information being entered
There is NO clipart available with this software. DO NOT
violate copyright laws when placing clipart on your page.
Two useful sites: www.search.creativecommons.org and
www.pdclipart.org
Also, there are no themes or backgrounds available with
this software
To add a page, choose Add New Page from the Page
Properties pull down menu (there are many options)
The content space page is ideal for adding basic
information
ALWAYS, LOGOUT when finished viewing
or editing your web site
