Sharon Guenther Lind 907-786-4166 Term Assistant Professor College of Business and Public Policy Bio - Sharon Guenther Lind Lind is an Aleut born and raised in Kenai, Alaska. Lind's area of study is the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and the Alaska Native corporations it created. Lind has been involved with the management of the Aleut Corporation since the early 90's in many different roles, from management to board member . From 2006 - 2011, Lind led the company as Chairman of the Board. She is also a shareholder of the Axtam Corporation, the Atka village corporation. Lind acquired her MBA from the University of Alaska Anchorage and is currently pursuing her PhD in Indigenous studies with a concentration in Indigenous leadership at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Currently Lind teaches undergraduate Organizational Behavior and classes within the newly developed Alaska Native Business Management minor area; a minor Lind helped create in UAA's College of Business and Public Policy. Education Accepted into the University of Alaska Fairbanks PhD program Spring 2013. Pursuing a PhD from the UAF Rural Development Indigenous Studies program. Master's in Business Administration, University of Alaska Anchorage BS Business Administration with minor in mathematics and an emphasis in management, Warner Pacific College, Portland, Oregon. Papers: Co-Authored with Dr. George Geistauts 'The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Corporation: A Case Example for Indigenous Peoples' Business Development?" and presented the paper at the Annual Hawaii International Business Research Conference and the 2013 First Annual Alaska Native Studies Conference: Transforming the University in the 21 51 Century. Paper published in the conference proceedings. ANCSA and other related professionally qualifying experiences: Elected to the Aleut Corporation board of directors, one of the Alaska Native regional corporations, in 1993 with 5 consecutive successful reelections. Current three year board term expires in 2015. Elected to lead the Aleut people in the role of Chairman of the Board of the Aleut Corporation from 2006 - 2011. Served as Chairman of the Board of TekStar, Inc. from 1999 - 2001, an Alaska Native 8(a) government contracting firm wholly owned by the Aleut Corporation. Served as Director of Shareholder Affairs for the Aleut Corporation and the 13 ANCSA village corporations within the Aleut region for five years. Educated shareholders region- wide on running effective Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) shareholder departments and implemented and educated Aleut shareholders and the Aleut region village corporation shareholders on the 1988 amendments to ANCSA and other ANCSA issues. Instigated and held statewide meetings of the 12 ANCSA regional shareholder departments. Ran the Aleut Corporation non-profit education foundation, The Aleut foundation, for five years as that organization's President. Co-created and instigated statewide meetings of the 12 ANCSA regional education foundations, later called the ANCSA Education Consortium. Co-Chaired this group and worked toward developing best practices for Alaska Native scholarship programs. Co-Chaired the organizing committee for the Alaska Native Council for the First Annual Alaska Native Studies Conference: Transforming the University in the 21 S! Century. Played a significant role in the organization of this [ust annual event, held its initial year on the UAA campus 2013.

Management experience includes: o Director of Shareholder Affairs at the Aleut Corporation; o Community Relations Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu; o Project Coordinator for Space Mark, Inc. (an 8(a) government contracting firm); o President of the Aleut Foundation; o Vice-President of Operations and Education at the Alaska Native Heritage Center; o Public Information Officer for the Denali Commission; o Chairman of the Board of TekStar, Inc.; o Chairman of the Board of the j\laska Commission on Postsecondary Education; o Chairman of the Board of the Aleut Corporation.

Other professional board service and affiliations include: o Served as the first Alaska Native representative for the Bill and Melinda Gates

Millennium Scholars Program and sat on this prestigious selection committee for four years;

o Served on the Salvation Army advisory board; o Appointed by Mayor Mark Begich to the Municipal Public Transit Advisory Board. o Served on the Foraker Group Operations board of directors. o Served on the Southcentral Counseling Center board of directors. o Appointed by Governor Walter Hickel to serve on the State of Alaska Job Training
