What is the PASAKAMI Yamang Gubat Program
– PASAKAMI YAMANG GUBAT PROGRAM is the enterprise arm of the Mangyan IPO federation.

– Forest honey
Who benefits from the enterprise?
– More than 1,000 honey gatherers and handicraft producers from 9 Community based enterprise groups benefit from the enterprise.
– The Provincial Federation and the five (5) Indigenous Peoples (tribal organizations) also got their share from the income of the enterprise.
Php 400,000.00 to Php 600,000.00 Gross Sales
per year
– Income from the products (food and crafts) sold is divided as follows:
– 60 % for operation
– 20 % is divided for the PASAKAMI Federation
– 10 % for the IPOs and,
– 10 % goes back to the CBNEs for the sustainability.
Benefit Sharing Scheme for Forest Honey
– A kilo of forest honey is priced at:
– Php 85.00 – for the harvester

where honey is harvested .
Php 5.00 – for the IPO supervising the group
Php 5.00 – for the honey consolidator

How does this scheme helps the forest communities?
• For the harvesters and consolidators, the income they get helps them meet their basic needs like food and children’s education.
• The community used their share to fund their rituals, meetings and maintenance of their village halls .
• The federation used their share for their meetings and regular operations.
Sustainability: How to achieve it? • Ensure that all concerns, from harvesters to
consolidators and processors are strictly observing and implementing the protocols in sustainable harvesting and processing.
• Expand markets to increase sales.
• Improve network and linkage to generate support.
• Be visible and active in environmental concerns and enterprise development.

RECOMMENDATIONS

• Resource Management and Participatory Resource Monitoring – Pamamahala ng Bertas
– Monitoring of resin quality
– Mapping of almaciga trees
URGENT CALL TO GOVERNMENT AGENCIES (Oct. 1 during IP Forum in Brooke’s Pt.):
• Simplify the process of permitting
– Clarify the costs involved including the per diem of government employees.
– Annual renewal
– Weak understanding of Indigenous People’s Rights Act (IPRA) and other related policies
• Support of different agencies to empower indigenous communities
– Participatory resource management.
– Programs that will increase capacity of indigenous communities
