qThewhite cement is considered as one of types of Portland cement (type I) from thechemicalandphysicalcharacteristicspointofview.Therawmaterialusedinproductionof white cement is mostly limestone (80%) and kaolin (20%). A little amount of silica(around1%)isalsoused,whenrequired.
qThemainandimportantchemicalfactorsinlimestoneandkaolinshouldbeasfollows:
qSince both gray and white cement are manufactured in Shargh Cement Complex at thesame time, we use the good quality limestone with the low MgO in production of whitecement which enables us production of high quality white cement with a superwhite grade.

RAW MATERIALS IN WHITE CEMENTPRODUCTION
Thetechnologyofwhitecementissimilartograycementinanoverallview.Themaindifferentiscoolingsystemofwhiteclinker.Therearetwomaintechnologiesforcoolingthewhiteclinkerasfollows:
1- French Technology usingthequenchingtanksysteminwhichthehotclinkerisdirectlydischargedfromkilnintothequenchingtankandsubmersedinthewater.Thenthecooledclinkerwillbeconveyedtothedryerwhichwilldrytheclinkerusingthereturnedhotairformtheheatexchangerandtheclinkermoisturewillbereducefrom18%to0.5%(inthewhitecementprocessthereisheatexchangerafterthepre-heaterwhichheatsthefreshairupto200˚C)
TherearetwokindsofDryer:1.A)RotaryDryer1.B)Fluidizebeddryerwhichissimilartospraydryerinceramicindustryinwhichthewetclinkerandhotairarefedintothedryerinacountercurrentdirection.

2- FLSmidth Technology usingarotarycoolerinwhichthehotclinkeriswatersprayedandinthismethod,thereisnoneedtothehotairfordryingthewhiteclinker.
