SHARE’s 31st annual Fun Walkmoves to Fall River’s BattleshipCove this year on Saturday,

October 1 beginning at 9 a.m. and isdestined to be the greatest eventwe’ve ever had!

Remember the merry-go-roundthat was at Lincoln Park from 1921until 1987? That historic carousel isnow a treasured Battleship Covedestination. Qualified walkers inSHARE’s largest fundraiser of theyear will be able to ride for free as many times as they want from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Heritage State Park boasts manyother attractions as well, and thearea is full of fun places to go and see.

Our walk route will stretch alongthe waterfront. Participants (andthat includes our friends who usewheelchairs!) can choose to walkfrom the Carousel building toHeritage State Park, or keep going allthe way to the Iwo Jima Memorial atthe end of the boardwalk. It takes

about 25 minutes to reach thememorial and is well worth thejaunt. Across the street from theCarousel is the Fall River TrainMuseum, and one block down thestreet is the Marine Museum.

The big attraction, of course, isBattleship Cove. Located at 5 WaterStreet, the renowned tourist attractionhas so much to offer, including theBattleship Massachusetts, theDestroyer Kennedy, the Lionfishsubmarine, a PT boat and more.Admission will be charged to tourthe battleships.

Here’s how you can be a part ofit all. Registration runs from 9 a.m.to 9:45 a.m. at the Carousel building.Treat yourself to the ever-popularcoffee and doughnuts courtesy ofour supporter Towne Donuts, hangout with friends and make somenew ones before we set out on ourall-new adventure!

We’ll step off at 10 a.m., crossingthe footbridge to Heritage StatePark. From there, walkers canchoose to turn around at any pointor continue all the way to the IwoJima Memorial.

Our pizza party starts at 11:30a.m., and as usual, there will beprizes, T-shirts, raffles and our wonderful assortment of donatedgift certificates to local restaurants

that you might win. A minimum of$50 must be raised in order to qualify.

For those who wonder what it’sall about, there will be Pokemon GOplayers at the Fun Walk to explainthe game and show how to capturethese elusive little characters.

A total of 68 golferstook part in the fun at theRichmond Country Club inRhode Island, raising$7,600 to assist SHARE inits work to help childrenand adults with disabilitiesto lead more independentlives.
