SHARE FOUNDATION WITH THE HANDICAPPED P.O. Box 400 ROLLING PRAIRIE, INDIANA 46371-0400 GOOD NEWS NEWSLETTER FOR THE OTHER ABLED NOVEMBER 2008 219-778-2585 VOLUME 35 #1 [email protected] FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY... 35th ANNIVERSARY OF THE “GOOD NEWS” This issue of the newsletter marks our 35th year of publishing and mailing the GOOD NEWS to over 13,000 homes, churches and businesses each month. We have grown to become a monthly, professionally printed publication, since our first issue was mimeographed in our office and mailed to a few hundred friends. We are proud of our newsletter and more than a little grateful to all of our friends: those friends over at McKay Printing in Michigan City who take care of this printing each month at no cost to the Share Foundation and our many friends who come each and every month to help us fold, close, and label this newsletter to “get out the good news.” We could not do this without you! Thank you all for your encouragement, support and dedication to serving the residential, vocational, spiritual and social needs of other abled adults. Have you noticed that there are lots of ads on television to help us get more sleep of a night? Seems that many people can’t turn off their thinking. Thoughts run through our minds constantly. One of the past philosophers said “I think, therefore I am.” Well many people today are addicted to thinking. They must be thinking all the time, even when they should be sleeping. Past conversations are gone over and over. Worries become bigger and bigger the more we think about them. This generally leads to unhappiness and disappointment with life. The other abled people that I have observed seem to be able to curtail this constant thinking. Sleep is more forthcoming. There is a certain relaxation of spirit. It is not that they can’t or don’t think. Some are very sharp – not in the sense of Einstein and theoretical ideas, but in every day humor. The other abled, in general, have the power to turn off their thinking process. They are not addicted to always and every where to be thinking. That is a powerful component to their lives. This opens up the possibility of God speaking to them. We need to imitate them! We would have much more energy, not wasting our energy on unnecessary thinking. Much of our thinking is of no real purpose. God wants to talk to us, but we are always distracted by our own thinking. There are many beautiful and fun things in this world that we simply do not realize because of our thinking distractions. We need to imitate the other abled! Villagers Ron and Tina bring you GOOD NEWS

FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY...

35th ANNIVERSARY OF THE “GOOD NEWS”This issue of the newsletter marks our 35th year ofpublishing and mailing the GOOD NEWS to over 13,000homes, churches and businesses each month.

We have grown to become a monthly, professionallyprinted publication, since our first issue wasmimeographed in our office and mailed to a few hundredfriends. We are proud of our newsletter and more than alittle grateful to all of our friends: those friends over atMcKay Printing in Michigan City who take care of thisprinting each month at no cost to the Share Foundationand our many friends who come each and every month tohelp us fold, close, and label this newsletter to “get outthe good news.” We could not do this without you!

Thank you all for your encouragement, support anddedication to serving the residential, vocational, spiritualand social needs of other abled adults.

Have you noticed that there are lots of ads on television to help us get more sleepof a night? Seems that many people can’t turn off their thinking. Thoughts runthrough our minds constantly. Villagers Ron and Tina bring you GOOD NEWS

How can it be time for Thanksgiving already and where did the year go? When I was a child, once school began itseemed to take forever for the holidays to arrive and now the days pass so quickly, I can hardly keep up with them.Mom always told me time would go faster as I got older and, as usual, Mom was right. Time marches on and I try toenjoy each moment.

As I prepare for Thanksgiving, I reflect on the many blessings God has so generously provided. This year there is muchto be thankful for with the opening of the 4th village at Sharing Meadows and the addition of new Villagers andstewards to our community. When I drive past the Forcey House it’s good to see a village to the right and one to theleft, both filled with good people who have found peace and joy at Sharing Meadows!

God has blessed our community abundantly with His goodness and especially with the people who call it home. Ourvillagers love unconditionally, affirm completely and make Sharing Meadows complete. When the community was stillin the planning stage, we were full of hopes and dreams of a peaceful place where people – no matter what their abilitieswere – would be valued for who they are, not what they could do. As I look back now on those days of developing, Irealize that we have exceeded our expectations, that Sharing Meadows is better that we ever envisioned it to be. Peoplecome here and walk away with a renewed sense of self worth and an inner peace. Our stewards are loving and kind asthey nurture the villagers to become the persons God created them to be. The villagers bring it all together because theirpresence is the reason Sharing Meadows must continue to be.

God blessings continue to shower down on us through our villagers, our donors, our volunteers, our staff and ourfriends. We thank God for your involvement and your dedication. My heart is full of gratitude this Thanksgiving as Ithank God for the community of Sharing Meadows and the privilege of being part of it!
