Main Idea:

Goals are planned conflicts with the present status quo. Achieving any goal means leaving the familiar and

venturing into a new area. Many people don’t like to leave their present comfort zones, and therefore never

set goals. By failing to set goals, they also fail to ever make any meaningful progress. Long-range goals

describe what you want to accomplish. Intermediate goals and daily tasks break it down into how to actually

do it.

Specific, measurable and realistic goals are the bridge between your governing

values and your daily activities.

Effective goals are:

❖ Specific - stating exactly what is to be accomplished.

❖ Measurable - with dates and ways to show progress.

❖ Action-Oriented - specifying things to be done.
