Ways to improveyour breath
● Daily brushing and flossing in the morning & before bedtime along with routine dental care from your
dental provider - improper dental hygiene care causes 85% of halitosis (bad breath)
● Drinking enough water - drink six to eight 8 oz. glasses of water per day. Being dehydrated can make you
produce too little saliva, which is a problem because saliva helps naturally rinse away bacteria and food.
If you are prone to allergies it is especially important to hydrate properly as there tends to be extra dryness due
to breathing difficulties.
● Acid reflux - most people think of acid reflux as heartburn/indigestion, but it can extend into the sinuses
causing bad breath. Stay clear of alcohol, citrus, chocolate and cinnamon if you experience acid reflux, dry
mouth, or allergies, these foods accelerate dryness which can cause bad breath.
● Avoid eating foods high in sugar- Not only does sugar promote more bacteria that can cause bad breath but
foods high in sugar can cause cavities.
