Shape of a typical water rocket Innovative proposal for the water rocket Process

THE WATER ROCKET Design Justification and Innovation As we can see, we modified several parts of the typical water rocket design in order to improve its aerodynamic capabilities. A light plastic ring attaches the fins to the main body without undermining the mechanical system. The nose cone is linked to the body through an innovative mechanism. Its “U” form allows to keep connected the nose to the rest of structure, but at the same time, it permits the air the enter inside the nose causing the opening of the parachute. Moreover, the geometric form of the four fins diminishes the resistence of the structure with the purpose to launch the rocket higher.

Safety concernsWe designed the structure in order to maintain the pres-suring action inside the rocket following safety parame-ters such as yield strenght of PET and reinforce it with plastic tape to avoid big deformations on the air contai-ner.

SustainabilityWe design the water rocket with sustainable materials such as cardboard and recycling elements like plastic. We utilized the different parts of a plastic bottle in order to obtain the water rocket’s requirements to launch it. In this way we used just two plastic bottles.
