Gazing at Life Through the Lens of God's Mercy A Parish Mission
February 21-24, 2016 This year our church is celebrating a Jubilee Year of Mercy. Jubilee Years have a rich tradition from Mosaic Law (Lev. 25: 8-13). Every seven years was a Sabbath year. Land and people were to rest. Every seven Sabbaths, or 50 years, was to be a special year of rest, restitution and reconciliation. The 50th year was to be a time of restoring Israel's relationship to God, each other and the land. Debts were forgiven, slaves set free, families reunited and property restored to its owner. It was a time of new beginnings.
In this regard, we are planning a Parish Mission for February 21-24 and our presenter for the Mission is Father Dan Crosby. Father Dan is a member of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph.Ordained in 1964, his life has been enriched by a variety of ministries and cultures, from college campus ministry and teaching to pasturing both inner city and Native American reservation parishes. Wherever he has ministered, Dan has worked to integrate Scripture as well as the Franciscan vision into his life and preaching. He has been a spiritual director and well-received retreat master/parish mission director throughout North America for his entire priestly life. He is presently part of the Capuchin community and its vibrant ministry at St. Bonaventure's near downtown Detroit.
Please plan to join us and embrace the opportunity to be proactive in making this year one of increased spiritual growth for yourself and for God's church. Father Dan will give the first mission talk
on Sunday, February 21st at 4pm. For further information please go to the following link: http://sttimothywesthartford.com/?

Good Works– Student Service Update Dear 8th Graders and Families, This year our 8th graders will volunteer for Food Share at the Hartford Regional Market. 12 students will volunteer each month. We will leave promptly at 8 am and return at 12:30pm. Students will pack a bag lunch and eat it on the way home. Students will be sorting food for the poor. It is hard work and a bit messy, yet fun. Students will wear their gym clothes and sneakers. Sweatshirts are suggested as the warehouse tends to be very chilly. Adult drivers are needed, all must be Virtus trained. I will need at least one other adult to stay and volunteer with me. The other drivers may drop off and pick up but are welcome to stay also. The other dates are as follows: All Wednesdays- 3/2, 4/6. and 5/4
Thank you so much, Mrs.Whittemore STMS Service Coordinator
