T he assignments from this week forward will cover building a modest website from (very
close to) the ground up. You will need to download a starter file that contains the folder/filestructure to start and complete the rest of the assignments.
First, download to your desktop and open (double-click) the Shakespeare.zip file for thisassignment.
The .ZIP file contains the following folder ( ) structure.
Shakespeare
Other_Lesson_Files
Part_03_files (We ̓ ll use these in later lessons. Disregard for now).
Part_04_files (We ̓ ll use these in later lessons. Disregard for now).
Part_05_files (We
ʼ ll use these in later lessons. Disregard for now). Part_06_files (We ̓ ll use these in later lessons. Disregard for now).

NOTE: This folder and file structure, (i.e., the "Shakespeare" folder containing the otherfolders/files) can be moved to any place on your computer at this point. Perhaps you have a"Websites" folder or other place you store all of your work.
DEFINE A NEW SITE IN DREAMWEAVER:
1. Open up Dreamweaver, Go to Site | New Site | (Basic Tab highlighted).
2. Name the Site "Shakespeare Site" (no quotes).
3. "What is the HTTP Address (URL) of your site?" -- Leave it as is.
4. Click NEXT.

5. "No, I don't want to use server technology" -- leave selected.
6. Click NEXT.
7. "Edit local copies on my machine..." -- selected.
8. "Where on your computer do you want to store your files?" Click the FOLDER icon tothe right of the input box.
9. Navigate to where you stored the the Shakespeare folder (with all the other folders/files)and highlight the Shakespeare_Site_Root folder. Then click NEXT.
10."How do you want to connect to your remote server?" -- dropdown menu: select NONE.
11.Click NEXT.
12.The next screen summarizes the choices you made. -- Click DONE.
Dreamweaver opens up the Shakespeare Site and you'll see, in the file area, all of the support subfolders and files.
13.In this directory, double-click the "simple_page.html" file to begin.
14.Follow the Step-by-Step instructions for each assignment, Parts 1-6.
You may want to download and print each part (1, 2, 3, etc.) for future reference.
The final assignment will be based on techniques covered in these lessons.
