In over a decade in the dance music industry, Shaheer Williams can proudly attest to being a “jack of all trades” and master of most of them, from DJ, to remixing, music producer, head of a record label, and now night club owner. Williams has been a pivotal force in the intense whirlpool of talent in New Jersey’s musical fraternity. Born in Orange, New Jersey, Shaheer began his Dee Jaying career in earnest, taking to the turntables at age seven. By the age of nine, he had already DeJayed his first major gig at East Orange’s Club 88. While in high school and listening to ground breaking Dee Jay’s like Tony Humphries and Timmy Regisford, Williams began working at the influential music store, Movin’ Records. This employ not only gave him a grass roots education in the dance music genre, but crucially afforded him numerous music contacts. Encouraged by family members who were successful producers within the dance music community themselves, Williams secured his first deejay residency at the legendary club Zanzibar on college night in the early ‘90’s. At the same time, Shaheer was honing his skills as a remixer and producer. His early remixes includes Kieson’s, He Touches Me (Fine Tune), Jomanda’s, Gotta Love For You (Big Beat) and Jonell’s, I’m A Queen (YellOrange). www.DJShaheerWilliams.com DJ SHAHEER WILLIAMS SPINS MUSIC FOR THE SOUL

DJ SHAHEER WILLIAMS SPINS MUSICFOR THE SOUL

Nurturing his own brand of soulful “house,” Williams hit acareer high when co-producing the international smashhit and Billboard chart topper, Everybody BeSomebody by Ruffneck featuring Yavahn on MAWRecords in ’96. This in turn led to a flurry ofinternational DJ gigs throughout Europe.Williams further capitalized on his increasingname recognition by collaborating withother soulful “house” luminaries such asBlaze, the Basement Boys and Masters AtWork.

Productions such as Sunday Morning byBackroom Congregation, and Can’t getOver You by Moneray, helped raiseShaheer’s musical career even higher. In turnthis multi-talented writer/producer who is stillin his twenties, has now created his own recordlabel, Soul Groove Records based in Fort Lee, NewJersey. The first single on the new label is theinfectious slice of soulful “house,”E-Street Beat which isis a remake of the 1985 club classic by Chocolette, nowperformed by Ruffneck featuring Yavahn, a debut release from their forthcoming album. In addition aBackroom Vintage collection is planned and a new album will soon debut from the dance music legendKenny Bobien.

When asked about the ever-changing face of dance music and how he feels his new projects fit into thecurrent scene, Williams has a refreshingly simplistic approach... He says, “It’s easy to try to do whatevereverybody else is doing, but then you’ll never stand out” he says. “I’ve always believed in good songs, good singers and strong instrumentation. That’s what soul is all about, whether it’s to a hip-hop beator house beat or whatever. There will always be a demand for good music that comes from the soul andthat’s the type of music I do. It’s not stuff that’s over in a week. Ten years from now, hopefully, you’ll beable to play a Ruffneck album and it will sound as fresh as it did the day it came out."

Fever Bar & Lounge is Newark, NJ’s premierehotspot, owned and operated by DJ ShaheerWilliams.

From its inception, Fever Bar & Lounge, inNewark, New Jersey was designed to fill avoid in the Newark nightclub scene. Asmajor lounges and dance spots that wereonce huge draws in the 1980’s up until themid-90’s began to decline and finally fadeout altogether, the city was left with nothingby way of evening entertainment. Yet duringthose club’s height, DJs like Fever’s founderShaheer Williams, were playing to theirpacked crowds and studying what made suchvenues successful.

A native of Newark, as a child prodigy on the turntablesa 7-year-old Williams started building a name with his DJskills, and by the age of 15 was an international success, gainingwide acclaim throughout Europe—from Italy, France, and Switzerland and beyond, where he also studiedthe mechanisms of party making. Coming off the road, he found the major clubs he had once played insuch as the Zanzibar, Club 88, and Club America and every other one had all but closed. By then asuccessful DJ, record label owner, and producer behind numerous singles, like with notables Ann Nesbyamong others; Williams decided to pool his resources from his music catalog and his real estateinvestment earnings to launch his own nightclub. Fever Bar & Lounge became his answer to ‘what’snext?’ for both his career and Newark’s neglected nightlife. After acquiring the space, Williams undertookmajor renovations to add the chic, ultra-ambient setting that the club now presents.
