Head Office Shaheen Foundation

Shaheen Foundation PAF was established in 1977 under the Charitable Endowments Act 1890, essentially to promote welfare activities for benefit of PAF personnel and their dependents by generating funds through industrial and commercial ventures. The Foundation has its Headquarters in Islamabad and its various subsidiaries are located throughout the length and breadth of Pakistan.

Shaheen Foundation extends its welfare services in the sectors of employment, education, health, Engineering, Services, Production, Construction works, Advertising & Housing etc. It has more than three thousand employees on its strength out of which seven hundred are ex-PAF personnel.

The foundation facilitates retired PAF personnel in seeking jobs in civil sector within the country as well as abroad. Shaheen Foundation provides different scholarships and fellowships at Graduates and Masters Level to the talented children of Ex-PAF personnel.

Moreover, all serving PAF persons are member of Medical Welfare Scheme through which they are compensated for death or permanent disability during service. Additionally PAF personnel are provided financial and medical grants at the time of such need.

Shaheen Airport Services

Shaheen Airport Services (SAPS) is a ground handling project established in 1982 with the sole aim of providing safe, cost effective and quality services to airlines operating in Pakistan. Today it has the largest infrastructure to provide complete ground handling services at six major International airports in Pakistan.

SAPS is equipped to handle all types of passenger and freighter carrier as well as smaller corporate airplanes. SAPS places high importance on smooth handling and on-time departure of flights by deploying adequate Ground Support Equipment and sufficient trained manpower.

SAPS have installed Airport Connect Open System at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar Airports. Airport Connect Open system offers the latest IT Solutions for quick check-in and boarding (CUTE services).

SAPS Quality Assurance team implements IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) programme at the airports which not only improves SAPS handling standards but definitely reduces the probability error of accidents and injuries on the ground.

SCI (SAPS Cargo International) is an IATA registered Cargo Agency. It is a freight

forwarding company functioning since 2001. Besides having its Head Office at Karachi, it

has branch offices at Lahore and Islamabad.

SAPS Aviation College, Karachi

SAPS Aviation College was established as a Training Centre at Karachi in February 1999

to provide training to SAPS personnel for Passenger Services, Cargo Services and Ramp

Operations. The need for quality training was inherently imbedded in SAPS because of the

highest operational standards desired by the Chief of Air Staff PAF, Chairman Committee of

Administration, Shaheen Foundation, PAF.

Therefore; Satellite Training Centers were set up at Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar to

enhance the ambit of training and the scope was expanded to include Dangerous Goods

Regulations (DGR), Flight Operations Officer (FOO) Course, refresher training and ETOPS.

CAA approvals were obtained for the Training Facilities, Instructors and the CAA regulated

courses. FOO Course is popular amongst the general public because of its quality of

training and comparatively low charges, while DGR and other courses are the first choice of

Airlines and Aviation organizations which care to provide quality training to their human

resource.

SAPS Aviation College is IATA accredited for DGR and is located at Karachi Airport It

provides global standard training in various aspects of airport operations. The training is

designated to meet the requirements of the regulatory authority and the airlines. The

college also undertakes regular training programmes for the SAPS staff in order to update

and improve their performance.

The Project Shaheen Aviation Maintenance Repair Overhaul Complex (SAMROC)

established at Head Office Shaheen Foundation is accountable to Shaheen Foundation ,

PAF for its administration, finances and operations SAMROC is mandated to support

friendly Air Forces and provide technical support and training for similar aircraft / equipment

using own expertise and engineering facilities of the Pakistan Air Force & Aviation

Industries of Pakistan.

Shaheen Renewable Energy, Islamabad

SRE I is a 50 MW Wind Power project that has been planned by Shaheen Foundation (SF) and has been initiated under Govt of Pakistan's Renewable Energy Policy. The project will be located at Bholari in Distt Thatha (Jhimpir Wind Corridor). The project as per, RE policy, will be financed on a Debt: Equity with SF holding 100% Equity share while Debt Component will be arranged through ECA facility / DFIs.

Currently the project has an LoI and Grid Interconnection Study in place while other pre-requisites for Financial Close are in process, awaiting for announcement of Tariff by NEPRA. SRE I is endeavoring hard to qualify for next Tariff as and when it is finally notified by the Govt so that project is up and running by the year 2018-19. The project as per RE policy envisages a healthy IRR of 16-17%, which NEPRA will decide and notify in upcoming Tariff.

This is the first WPP project that SF has initiated in RE sector of Pakistan which offers exciting opportunities for the prospective investor. As the policy under which these projects are being set up is very robust and mature, we hope that success of SRE will herald a new era of corporate experience for SF in the context of power sector of Pakistan and it will further consolidate its gains by investing in more such projects in future.

is ISO-9000 and WRAP Certified Company. Shaheen Knitwear works as a composite unit

only. From 2006, SMS has extended its scope to Pakistan Army and took over the LP

Shaheen Students Scholarship Scheme,

Islamabad

In order to encourage and extend financial support to talented students, Shaheen

Foundation provides scholarship and excellence / merit certificates to the students of Class

V to X who secured meritorious positions/good results in their previous year’s final

examination from PAF F G Fazaia and Govt schools located within PAF Bases or

administratively controlled by the PAF.

With effect from the annual exam of year 2011 the scholarship rate for PAF schools has

been revised increased. The three students of each class should be awarded scholarship

Rs 5000/-for 1st position, Rs 4000/- for 2nd, Rs 3000/- for 3rd position along with

Excellence certificates. Similarly these amounts for FG Fazaia / Govt schools can be Rs

3000/-, Rs 2000/- and Rs 1000/- for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Position students along with merit

certificates. The remaining students of any category, including wards of officers can be

awarded Rs 1000/- for PAF schools and Rs 500/- for FG Fazaia / Govt Schools Per Annum.

Shaheen Medical Welfare Scheme,

Islamabad

Medical Welfare Scheme (MWS) was launched in October, 1986 for serving PAF officers

and airmen on voluntary basis. However, in April, 2007 it was made compulsory for PAF

officers on commissioning and airmen on completion of trade training. The scheme

envisages to pay compensation to serving officers / airmen in case of down-gradation of

medical category and to their families in case of loss of life.

The objective of Medical Welfare Scheme is to provide financial compensation to its

members (serving officers / airmen) in case of disability or down-gradation of medical

category and their families in case of death of the member.
