Rabbi’s Message

We have just begun the joyous month of Nisan – the month of liberation and

Geulah. We struggle to find the joy and the liberation…but we know it is there! Maybe there is an aspect of Nisan we can realize today. The Torah describes Nisan as החודש הזה לכם ראש חדשים ” This is the month for you, the head of all months” you are now a free nation and time is now your own responsibility. The aspect of our control of our time is very much relevant in our present situation.

How do we spend our time?

How much time do we spend on davening?

How careful are we when we bentch? These are things which we can and should control. May we should focus on the positive and soon realize the true redemption of Chodesh Nisan.

During these unprecedented times, we ask you:

• To wash your hands with soap

• We urge you to refrain from gathering in large groups. Social distancing is critical. 6 ft apart

• Follow the guidelines of the local and national authorities, including the CDC, local health departments and network of synagogues.

• To be kind and mindful of those of us who may be alone – reach out to them by calling them. Inquire what they might need. Remember isolation and facing the unknown of a pandemic can be very stressful for all of us but especially for those who are facing these days by themselves.

• It is the Shul and the community’s policy NO MINYANS should be held at this time outside including the pool or the surrounding grounds. Plus NO MINYANS should be held in our apartments. This is an attempt to reduce the risk to all of us.

• Please refrain from inviting your family and friends to visit you in Florida at this time. It is critical for everyone to remain where they reside to prevent further spread of the COVID-19.

The Shul office remains closed until further notice. We are working remotely and have access to email. We are also retrieving voice messages. We pray to Hashem all will be safe during this pandemic crisis.

Currently, the Rabbis have puskined to dispose of your chometz by flushing down a tiny amount in the toilet. The question whether you will be able to drop off your chometz at YIDB in order for us to burn it on your behalf, will be determined shortly.

In response to your requests to have someone to assist with your shopping for Pesach, Rabbi Edelman has made arrangements with Rabbi Moskowitz from BRS to have students do it for you. Please contact Rabbi Moskowitz at (561) 491-2338. There will be a

modest fee for this service.

I want to take this opportuni-ty to thank my YIDB family

for all the cards and phone calls of comfort to me on the loss of my beloved husband, Joel. Special thank you to Rabbi Edelman and Gutel Edelman for their guidance, friendship and assistance during this harrowing experience. May we have simchas from now on.
