There will be a mincha minyan at 5:50 pm and maariv after the banquet, in addition to our usual mincha/maariv minyan at 7:55.

Friday, Erev Shabbat-Erev Shavuot, May 18, 1:00-2:30 pm: Kids Illustrated Torah for grades K-6 with Morah Lisi and Art Teacher Talya Weinberg. Create oil-pastel artwork to illustrate stories and mitzvot from the Torah! Art will be displayed at KMS over Shavuot and then compiled into our very own KMS Kids Illustrated Torah book! MONDAY MORNING COFFEE Looking for a great cup of coffee and some friendly company? Join us after minyan on Monday mornings for coffee in the KMS lobby.
KMS CYCLING GROUP There is an active cycling group that meets most Sunday mornings at the KMS parking lot at 7:30 am for 1 1/2 - 2 hour road rides. This group is open to anyone and the group welcomes new cyclists. Click here to join the Whatsapp group to be connected and informed about rides. ZUMBA CLASSES
Zumba classes, Tuesdays, 8-9 pm in the social hall. This women-only class is open to the community. Licensed instructors, Mandi Lowenstein, Rachel Falk and Shani Malka, will lead a fun filled hour of dance. $8 per class or all 6 classes for $40. All levels welcome even if you have never taken a Zumba class before. Payment accepted via PayPal or at the door. Direct payment and questions to [email protected].

KOL MEVASER BLOG
ELIANA LIPSKY & CHAIM KIRBY Chaim Kirby and Eliana Lipsky arrived 10 months ago by way of Houston, Boston, Chicago and Israel. They moved here to be near family and are loving that their backyard is adjacent to Eliana’s sister and brother-in-law, Shira and Danny Schwartz, and that
their children play together as often as possible. Chaim Kirby is a software architect for Commonwealth Informatics and Eliana is the Middle School Principal at CESJDS. They have four boys, Amichai (5), Eitan (3), and 13.5 month old twins Shai and Matanel. Though the boys were not born here they are excited to have such a great community in which to play and grow up. As a family they love to explore campgrounds, museums, adventure parks, and more. They cannot wait to explore the Greater Washington area!
Chaim and Eliana hope to become more involved at KMS once they are no longer knee deep in diaper changes and nap time. In particular, Eliana loves participating in Women’s Tefilla groups on every occasion. When asked what Chaim and Eliana like most about KMS, they said, “Hands down, the community. We have never been so welcomed so quickly into any other community the way we were welcomed into the KMS community. It really felt like we were coming home.”

In an effort to promote the warm community feeling we strive for here at KMS, we introduce you to KMS members each week. We hope you enjoy meeting fellow members and use these bios as a catalyst to introduce yourself to others at KMS.
“GETTING TO KNOW YOU” BOOK We have compiled a book of all the “Getting to Know You” write-ups thus far. The book is available in the lobby for your perusal. Please “get to know” various members of our shul and introduce yourself when you see them.

OMER CAMPAIGN Yad Yehuda is “counting” on you during the omer to help us provide for those in need. Please donate grains: cereal, granola and granola bars in honor of Shavuos. Factory-sealed boxes may be deposited in the collection boxes at most area shuls, Jewish schools, Shalom’s and Moti’s, or the porch of the food pantry, 1910 University Blvd.

ZICHRON MENACHEM HAIR DRIVE Annual Zichron Menachem hair drive on the day after Shavuot, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Progressions Salon. All cuts are free and each donor receives a special gift from the coordinator and a certificate from Zichron Menachem. Your donation will give a young cancer patient in Israel a beautiful, new wig that will give them incredible self confidence and happiness! KEMP MILL VILLAGE As you may know, an exploratory group has been investigating establishing Kemp Mill Village -- a community-based nonprofit that would assist residents in many ways, with an emphasis on supporting older and/or disabled neighbors who wish to remain in their homes. Help us get started: We would appreciate your completing the survey here to help us assess the level of interest in, and current need for, various services that might be provided by Kemp Mill Village. A community-wide meeting is planned for June 3rd (3-5 PM) at the Kemp Mill Elementary School. Representatives from Montgomery County government and Kensington Village will speak and answer questions.
