The Student Complaints Oce is governed by the Student Complaints Policy andProcedures document which was approved by Academic Council in December2006. The policy was established to provide clear guidelines or students to tackleproblems that they may encounter whilst attending the University.
As students you have the right to lodge a complaint against a School, Service orindividual in the University i you eel that your legitimate expectations are notbeing met. Your grounds or complaint might relate to areas including:
Teaching and academic acilities
Academic services
On-campus accommodation
Student support services
Administrative services
Alleged actions or inaction by the University or a member o its sta
There are two stages to the Student Complaints Procedure: Inormal and Formal. There is also an appeals process.
Your complaint should initially be raised as near as possible to the point at which
the problem occurred - in the School or University Service - and should be pursuedinormally in the rst instance. However, i your complaint cannot be resolvedinormally at local level, the University has adopted a procedure which also allowsor complaints to be pursued, impartially and objectively, at a ormal level.
The Student Complaints Oce manages the ormal procedure to be ollowed iand when the complaint has not been resolved inormally.
Inormation about the student complaints procedure is available at
www.ucd.ie/complaintsI you have any questions regarding the procedure or i you would like advice orassistance, please contact the Universitys Student Complaints Ocer to arrangean appointment.
