What: The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will begin the installation of a new water main pipe on Jackson St from Stockton St to Grant & Sansome to Front; Washington St from Davis to Drumm; Davis St from Sacramento to Market; and Drumm St from Jackson to California. Crews will replace the sewer main on Sacramento St from Battery to Drumm. This project will replace pipes in the street that are approaching the end of their useful life.
Who: Empire Engineering & Construction is the contractor working for the SPFUC.
When: The project re-started March 12, 2015 with completion scheduled for January 11, 2016. Weather and/or construction issues may impact the schedule.
How: Cut trench in pavement; remove pavement and soil Install water main pipe; install sewer main pipe Backfill trench & install temporary asphalt as work moves forward Make service connections to new pipe Final trench paving and street restoration There may be periods of inactivity within construction schedule.
What to expect during construction: There will be noise, vibration, dust, parking and traffic impacts in work zone
and disruption to normal neighborhood activity. Businesses and residents in the work zone will maintain access to their
garages, although there may be temporary delays. Parking will be prohibited in the work zone during work hours. Please see
posted signs for exact details. A city construction inspector will be on-site during work hours and may be
able to assist you with construction concerns. Inspectors typically wear a yellow safety vest and hard hat.
A short interruption of water service when crews are making connections to new pipe. Advance notice will be given.
