Se volvió y dijo a Pedro: "¡Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás! Usted es un
obstáculo para mí. ¡Pobre Pedro! Él debe haber estado sufriendo de latigazo cervical en este tiempo. En el curso de unos 15 segundos (si vamos estrictamente por la narrativa), Pedro pasó de fundación de la iglesia (Piedra) al enemigo de la iglesia (Satanás)! Y todo esto de la boca de aquel a quien Pedro había reconocido como Mesías e Hijo de Dios. Tal vez en un ataque de frustración, Jesús recuerda a Pedro de su humanidad y el hecho de que los seres humanos no piensan y actúan como Dios. En nuestra humanidad que podemos tener las mejores intenciones, como Pedro, pero esas intenciones no se alinean con la voluntad de Dios y así nos convertimos, como Pedro, un enemigo del reino (la iglesia). Pedro, al igual que nosotros, a veces no logra comprender el significado del sacrificio (la cruz). Uno de los grandes misterios, ¿cómo el sufrimiento y la mortalidad llevaron a la redención y la vida? Pedro amaba a Jesús, sin duda, pero él no comprendió esta verdad en este punto de su vida. ¿Encontramos cualquier valor en el sacrificio o sufrimiento en nuestra vida?

He turned and said to Peter,
“Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me.
Poor Peter! He must have been suffering from whip-lash right about this time. In the course of about 15 seconds (if we go strictly by the narrative), Peter went from foundation of the church (Rocky) to enemy of the church (Satan)! And all of this from the mouth of the one whom Peter had just acknowledged as Mes-siah and Son of God. Perhaps in a fit of frustration, Jesus reminds Peter of his humanity and the fact that we humans don't think and act like God. In our hu-manity we can have the best intentions, like Peter, but those intentions don't align with God's will and so we become, like Peter, an enemy of the kingdom (church). Peter, like us, sometimes fails to grasp the meaning of sacrifice (the cross). One of the great mysteries, how does suffering and death lead to re-demption and life? Peter loved Jesus no doubt but he didn't grasp this truth at this point in his life. Do we find any value in sacrifice or suffering in our life?

Youth Group The High School Youth Group will kick off the 2014/2015
year on Sunday September 7th at 10:15am in the Youth Room in the parish hall. All High School Youth are encouraged to attend and join. This is a little fellowship, faith building and planning activities. Our first meeting
will be on implementation of the St. Francis Youth Council.
