Welcome Home! As we initiate a new school year we are very excited at the many
opportunities that lie ahead for this school year! We have many new students and a few new staff who are joining our Viking
family this year! In addition to the great opportunities that our
technology programs continue to provide, we anticipate a fun-filled and challenging academic year for our student body! Take
a look at who is new at Saint Ferdinand Catholic School!

All students dismiss at 12 noon each afternoon; After
School Care begins Tuesday.
Tech Distribution We will be finalizing the syncing of
all iPads and Macbooks this week into next week. All technology
should be distributed to classroom teachers and students by Tuesday of
next week! Thank you for your patience!
The Hot Lunch program begins today! Breakfast will be served daily this week in the hall before school and at recess time. Breakfast and lunch orders for
the month of August will be on a daily basis until September. Please see the
enclosed menu for the months of August and September. Families are
asked to pre-order their child’s breakfast and lunch for the entire
month of September using the enclosed calendar and payment envelope until the first week of
September.

What’s New for 2015-16 This summer was an exciting one at school and we
anticipate a fantastic year ahead.
First, Second & Fourth Grade Renovations:
each of these classrooms were completely
overhauled with new LED lighting, flooring,
paint and window shades.
New Middle School Science Teacher: Sr.
Louise, SND, will be helping in middle school
with 6th and 7th grade Science. She brings great
energy and creativity and helps free up Mrs.
Sandhu, our Vice Principal, to help Mr.
Ambriz more in the office.
New Technology Teacher: Miss Catalan will
be helping our students in 5th – 8th engage with
engineering, software coding and Adobe
software (PhotoShop, Flash, etc.).
New PE Teacher: Mr. Ferris will be brining
our PE program in line with our sports
program and helping to teach our students in
K – 8th the foundational skills of various
sports. Each month, Mr. Ferris will focus on a
different sport to work with students on. The
great news is that our students will be exposed
to sports that they may not have exposure to in
the past – tennis, hockey, etc.
New After School Piano Program: We are
excited to introduce a piano program on
Monday afternoons from 3 pm – 4 pm. Sign
up sheets have been sent out and will be sent
out this week again. Sign-up in the office!
Hawaiian BBQ
On Friday, August 28th, the PTF will be hosting a
welcome back BBQ for our students at 11 am! This will be a fun time to welcome our students into the
new school year. Please be sure that your child dresses in a Hawaiian shirt and free dress bottoms! Lunch will
be provided for all students free of charge.
After School Care
Our Morning and After School Care services begin in full on today (8/25). The After School Care program begins at
3:15 pm in the hall (except on Fridays when it begins at
12:45 pm in the hall). Students who remain on campus (except for teacher tutoring) after 3:15 pm will
automatically be enrolled in the After School Care program and will be billed for the day. The After School Care monthly rate is $145 for one student, $195 for two students and $230 for three or more students. The daily drop-in rate is $13 for the first student and $3 for each
additional student for grades Kinder to 8th grade.
The Morning Care program, which is run by Mrs. Marisela Torres, is held in the hall and drop-off begins at
6:30 am in the morning. Morning Care will also begin
with the opening of school today.
The first hour of After School Care is dedicated to homework completion. Students will be expected to work quietly from 3:15 pm – 4 pm. Students who do not have
homework will be asked to read or study quietly.

Mandatory Virtus Training—following the Archdiocesan mandate that all school parents be Virtus
trained to recognize the signs of sexual abuse, we will charge a $50 fee to any parent who has not been
certified by Friday, September 20. The fee will automatically be posted onto November’s Smart Tuition
bill if not completed!

Ordenes de Lonche para
Agosto y Septiembre
¡El programa de desayunos y lonche caliente comienza hoy! El desayuno se sirve todos los días de esta semana en el
salón parroquial antes de la escuela y durante el recreo. Desayuno y lunches pedidos para el mes de agosto podrán
ser ordenados por día hasta septiembre. Por favor, consulte el menú cerrado
para los meses de agosto y septiembre.
Las familias se les pide que pre-ordenar el desayuno y el lunch de sus hijos
durante todo el mes de septiembre con el calendario cerrado y el sobre de pago hasta la primera semana de septiembre.

Que es nuevo para el 2015-2016
BBQ Hawaiano ¡El viernes 28 de agosto de la PTF será el anfitrión del
BQ de bienvenida para nuestros estudiantes a la hora del almuerzo! ¡Este será un momento de diversión para dar
la bienvenida a nuestros alumnos en el nuevo año
escolar! ¡Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo se viste con una camisa hawaiana y pantalones de vestir! El
almuerzo será proporcionado a todos los estudiantes de
forma gratuita.
Actualización del Programa de
Cuidado después de Escuela Los servicios de Programa del Cuidado por la Mañana y Cuidad después de Escuela comienzan en su totalidad el día de hoy (8/25). El programa del Cuidado después de Escuela comienza a las 3:15 pm en el salón (excepto los
viernes cuando comienza a las 12:45pm en el salón parroquial). Los estudiantes que permanecen en la escuela
(a excepción de tutoría docente) después 3:15 serán automáticamente inscritos en el programa del Cuidado
después de Escuela y se facturarán por el día. El Después tasa mensual Cuidado escuela es de $ 145 para un
estudiante, $ 190 por dos estudiantes y $ 225 para tres o más estudiantes. La cuota por día es $13 para el primer
estudiante y $3 por cada alumno adicional para niños(as) de los grados Kínder al 8º grado.
El programa de atención de la mañana, que está dirigido por la señora Marisela Torres, se llevó a cabo en el salón
parroquial y que comienza a las 6:30 am de la mañana. El
Programa de Cuidado por la mañana también comenzará hoy también con la apertura de la escuela.
La primera hora del Programa de Cuidado después de Escuela está dedicado a completar la tarea. Se espera que los estudiantes trabajen en silencio desde 3:15-4:00. A los
estudiantes que no tienen la tarea, se les pedirá leer o estudiar en silencio.
Este verano fue muy emocionante para la escuela y nosotros anticipamos un fantástico año adelante.
Renovaciones del Primer, Segundo y Cuarto Grado:
cada una de estas aulas fueron completamente
rediseñadas con nuevos tonos de iluminación,
pisos, pintura y ventanas LED.
Nueva maestra para la escuela secundaria de Ciencias:
La hermana Louise, SND, estará ayudando en
la escuela secundaria con Ciencias para el sexto
y séptimo grado. Ella aporta una gran energía y
la creatividad y ayuda a liberar la señora
Sandhu, nuestro subdirector, ayudar al señor
Ambriz más en la oficina.
Nueva maestra de Tecnología: La Srta. Catalán
estará ayudando a nuestros estudiantes de 5º al
8ºa comprometerse con la ingeniería, la
codificación de software y software de Adobe
(Photoshop, Flash, etc.).
Nuevo maestro de PE: El Sr. Ferris estará trayendo
el programa de educación física en línea con
nuestro programa de deportes y ayudar a
enseñar a nuestros estudiantes de K - 8 las
habilidades fundamentales de diversos deportes.
Cada mes, el señor Ferris se centrará en un
deporte diferente y trabajar con los estudiantes.
La buena noticia es que nuestros estudiantes
serán expuestos a los deportes que no pueden
tener exposición a en el pasado - el tenis,
hockey, etc.
Nuevo Programa de Piano Después de la
Escuela: Estamos muy contentos de introducir
un programa de piano en las tardes los lunes de
3:00-4:00pm. Formas de registración han sido
enviados y serán enviados esta semana de
nuevo. ¡Regístrese en la oficina!
