all goodness. When we do good, therefore, we imitate Him and
reflect His light to all the world. Christians give freely because

sacramental and spiritual needs of our homebound parishioners. If

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER TODAY’S FOCUS: REMAINERS
For followers of Christ, to “remain” in him does not mean merely
staying in place, but keeping an active, living, and close
connection with him at all times. When Jesus remains in us and we
remain in him, our words and deeds bear his fruit. St. Francis de
Sales taught that it’s not enough to carry the Lord on our tongue,
speaking God’s praise, or in our hearts, sharing our love and
affection for God. We must carry the Lord in our arms by good
works. Without those works, the other two ways of carrying the Lord
do not amount to much. Remain in Christ today. Stay with Him. Show
that his words remain in you. Carry him in your arms by your good
works.

Year of Mary Concert To conclude our Year of Mary celebration at
OLMC Basilica, Illuminare will be presenting an all Marian, Sacred
choral program in the basilica on Sunday, May 6, 2018 @ 7:00 p.m.
Illuminare is a choral ensemble devot-ed to performing sacred
choral works by the great composers. The en-semble, comprised of
local collegiate and music professionals, has per-formed throughout
Northeastern Ohio and has toured nationally and in-ternationally.
The concert will include beautiful, sacred choral selections by
Caccini, Bruckner, Sir John Stainer, Rachmaninoi, Gawthrop, and
others. Addi-tionally the concert will include a new choral piece
composed specifical-ly for our celebration. Illuminare’s music
Director, Jon Simsic, has com-posed Mother of God, We Sing Your
Praises with text by St. Bernard of Clairvaux. Paraclete Press will
subsequently publish this composition which will have its premier
at the concert. In addition to Illuminare, the concert will feature
our Director of Music, Craig Ziobert, and the combined choirs of
the Basilica and St. Anthony of Padua Church. The
congregation/audience will have the opportunity to join the choirs
in singing beautiful Marian hymns. Please join us for the special
conclusion to our celebration of the Year of Mary.
