Either through our internal manufacturing or
through our manufacturing partners, we deliver an
application specific climate control solution of any
size and scale. Through our experience in over 700
projects, we are able to deliver practical solutions
that respect individual budgets.
Surna’s consultative development process includes
in depth conversations about your business goals
and precise solutions to arrive at the perfect climate
control solution to meet your facility’s specific
production goals.
Our technologies allow cultivators to have a
totally sealed cultivation area, which is increasingly
important in a world of stricter testing standards.
Also, our technologies are designed to offer ample
redundancy, ensuring you never lose coverage.
Monthly environmental costs can amount to as
much as 51% of electricity usage, so the technology
you choose will have a large impact on your
company’s bottom line.
Fortunately, Surna is a one-stop shop for the build
out of a cultivation facility with energy efficiency
and yields being top of mind. Our team works with
owners and cultivators to understand their current
and future goals before any plans are laid out or any
purchase is made.
Surna researches, not just this industry as it is today,
but also the future of this industry, and we know that
its future is composed of standardized, consistent
product with stewards of the earth marketing
strategies. Therefore, we work hard to create the
precise equipment and services you need to take your
cultivation facility forward into this exciting industry.

SURNA PRODUCTS

Surna provides various lighting products in the
most popular forms, including Double-Ended High
Pressure Sodium (HPS), Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH),
and LED.
The Surna reflector provides an energy-efficient
option for growers using Double-Ended HPS or CMH
bulbs. The reflector’s unique optical design directs
light to the plant canopy and increases light on
target by 9%, leading to greater yields and reduced
wasted light on walls and in aisles. Surna’s LED offers
a patent pending spectrum technology, a passive
convection that draws ambient air to the fixture for
cooling and a non-corrosive aluminum body.
Controlling and monitoring environmental factors
such as temperature, humidity, and light cycles is
important for consistent, quality harvests. Surna’s
automation system provides you with the confidence
that these are all being monitored and reported.
We begin by collecting data. Aspirated modules
are hung throughout to collect temperature,
dehumidification, and other critical environmental
factors. These modules are used in tandem with
our Smart Control System, or SCS, to communicate
important information and allow cultivators to
adjust environmental factors with a simple press
of a button.
The SCS is also tied directly to Surna’s chiller bank
and pumps so that climate control equipment
efficiencies within the facility can also be set quickly
and easily.
All data collected through Surna’s automation
system is stored and monitored for trends via
our secure database. Reports, such as nighttime
humidity spikes, can be viewed to make adjustments
to the facility as needed. Instant notifications of
equipment performance or critical environmental
changes can be sent to any device.

Keeping cultivation areas clean and free of harmful
pollutants is key to healthy, high-yielding harvests.
Surna offers air sanitation devices to prevent
airborne fungal diseases. This technology utilizes
photocatalytic oxidation to kill pollutants such as
powdery mildew, bacteria, botrytis, spores, and
other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) without
creating any unpleasant byproducts like ozone.
All organism and VOC destruction happens within
the chamber of the air sanitation device, ensuring
that terpenes are never oxidized and keeping
plants safe and healthy. This piece of technology
is ideal for new facility design to ensure sanitary
environments from the start, or existing facilities
that need to take preventative measures.
The hybrid building combines the best of both
worlds, utilizing the sun as its primary light source
much like a greenhouse but with all the advantages
inherent to indoor cultivation. This results in a
substantially lower energy use structure without
the temperature and humidity swings inherent to
traditional greenhouses, maximizing your production
per square foot more than any other facility, since it
was designed with cannabis cultivation in mind.
As with all Surna products, the hybrid building is
designed for efficiency. Our building can save 50-
75% of energy compared to a comparable-size
indoor grow* through its patent-pending technology.
Not only is the building equipped with a full suite of
Surna climate control equipment, but it also features
a transparent roof that allows light to come into your
cultivation area and provide the energy efficiency
advantages of a greenhouse. A separate “attic
space” allows for heat transfer from your cultivation
area, offering free cooling and heating without
exposing your crop to the outdoors. Supplemental
LED lighting and light deprivation curtains make
photoperiod control easy, adjusting LEDs in real time
to ensure consistent light to the canopy without
wasting energy. This building also offers condensate
reclamation technology to reduce water usage.
Surna’s hybrid building is designed for the flexibility
cultivators need. All our designs are modular, allowing
owners to choose the appropriate square footage
and add on as needed. The hybrid building can
also include processing and office space within the
building envelope, eliminating the need for additional
spaces, and gives cultivators the option of including
vegetative areas under the sun or in an enclosed area.

SURNA SERVICES
CONSULTING
Surna offers consultation services to ensure that the facility design meets the growers’
needs related to temperature, humidity, biosecurity, and energy efficiency.
These services include:
• Providing an overview of best practices and various approaches for achieving facility goals
• Obtaining operational information from the cultivation manager necessary for proper mechanical design
• Providing background of industry standards for unknown variables
• Floor plan review
• Identifying general approach (narrative) for mechanical design and assigning action items to relevant parties
• Reviewing overall system sizing
• Identifying specif ic mechanical equipment that will meet climate and biosecurity requirements

ENGINEERING SYSTEM DESIGN
Setting up a commercial cannabis cultivation facility
inevitably involves engineers to help design the space
and pick out equipment, among other tasks.
We believe it is beneficial to have the company that
designed the equipment also provide engineering
for the facility.
Our engineering services provide:
• Mechanical Design
• Floor Plan Development
• Lighting Design
• Thermal Modeling

Surna offers full facility biosecurity screenings, from
baseline facility analysis and development of standard
operating procedures to testing services and reporting.
Surna’s biosecurity team starts by assessing your facility,
establishing testing protocols and recommending
appropriate equipment to maintain quality levels.
The second component of Surna’s biosecurity program is
regular air and surface testing. Surna’s biosecurity team
monitors environmental conditions and facility hygiene,
and conducts air and surface quality tests to ensure top-
level facility sanitation and performance.
Finally, Surna provides reports based upon collected
facility data highlighting potential problem areas and
suggested risk mitigation.

ODOR CONTROL PL AN
Many cities are now requiring cannabis cultivation
facilities to develop a comprehensive odor control
plan (OCP). Surna can provide a review of a
facility’s current odor control equipment and assist
in developing an odor control plan that can be
submitted to governing bodies. Our odor control
plans are based on industry best practices and
minimum requirements set by ASHRAE and include
analyzing the current setup and state assumptions,
determining relevant code reference, calculating
ventilation for occupancy requirements and odor
control and providing documentation that can be
presented to the governing body.
