At Evergreene Homes, every home we build exceeds national standards by more than 40% while providing you with the high performance and carefree lifestyle you deserve. It is our belief that a house is not a home if it is not built for optimum comfort and maximum energy savings.
HERS® INDEX Score It is quite easy for a Builder to claim that they build an energy efficient home, but much more difficult for most Builders to substantiate that claim with hard data. What separates Evergreene Homes from our competition is that we can clearly demonstrate, with third party verification, that each and every one of our homes is truly an energy efficient home. We do this by testing and ranking energy efficiency with a nationally accepted protocol so that each home can be fairly compared against others. The result, is a guarantee that your home meets a higher standard of comfort and energy savings.
What is the HERS® INDEX?
Let’s start by defining a few terms:
RESNET stands for Residential Energy
Services Network.
HERS stands for Home Efficiency Rating
System.
To be scored on the HERS® Index, a certified
RESNET Home Energy Rater must assess
the efficiency of the home and assign it a
score on the index based on the home’s
performance.
This score can tell you a lot about a home
you are considering purchasing, as well as
the home you currently live in.
Some variables that are taken into
consideration when scoring a home are:
• All exterior walls
• Floors over unconditioned spaces like
basements and crawl spaces
• Ceilings and roofs
• Windows, Doors, Vents and Ducts
• HVAC Systems
• Air Leakage from the home

on energy bills.
Materials & Process
So what goes in to making your home more energy efficient? It all starts behind the walls - more specificlaly, it starts with the walls.
Evergreene Homes are built using 2” x 6” panelized construction.
By building a home with a 2” x 6” frame, we are creating more space inside the walls to hold more insulation. More insulation means a higher R-Value and less wasted energy.
Our panelized construction process means your home is built in less time than traditional stick-building. In addition to the obvious benefit of having a home finished sooner, this also means your home’s foundation and framing materials are not exposed to the elements for longer than necessary.
Each Evergreene Home utilizes Blown-in Blanket insulation or the BIBS® System.
Traditional Batt insulation is difficult to manipulate into tricky spaces around plumbing and electric inside the wall cavity. Homes with batt insulation typically have a lower R-Value, higher air infiltration, and a less effective sound barrier.
Our BIBS® insulation offers a much higher R-Value by completely filling the space around pipes, wires, and other structural objects in the walls to maximize thermal efficiency and increase the sound barrier. BIBS® is mold and combustion resistant giving you peace of mind that your home is safe.

R-Value:A scale for measuring an insulating material’s resistance to conductive
heat flow. The high the R-Value, the more effective the insulation.

In addition to superior insulation technology, Evergreene also builds our homes with a Radiant Barrier Insulated Roof Sheathing.
Radiant heat is the trasnfer of heat from the sun’s rays onto a home’s roof, into the attic, and ultimately into the living space. A radiant barrier is a reflective material used to redirect radiant heat from the sun. In warm weather, this barrier will block excess radiant heat from entering your home, decreasing the work of your HVAC and lowering your energy costs.
Evergreene Homes also come with insulated and conditioned Crawl spaces.
15% of your home’s energy is typically lost through your ground floor’s sub-flooring. Since the crawl is not livable space, it if often overlooked as an opportunity to increase a home’s R-Value. At Evergreene, by insulating and conditioning our crawl spaces, each home is sealed for minimal heat transfer and optimum energy savings.
Each home is built with Low- E high performance windows.
25% of a home’s energy is lost through windows and doors. At Evergreene, we are proud to only use windows with Low-E glass technology, used for regions with hot summers and cold winters, minimizing heat transfer and keeping you comfortable all year long.
All homes are built using a PEX Plumbing System.
With the innovation of PEX Plumbing, your home’s plumbing can be installed in any weather condition without glue or cement. The flexible tube material requires fewer joints and fittings, and homes with PEX Plumbing enjoy faster delivery of hot water to their faucets.
Duct Blaster and Blower Door Testing:
Evergreene also performs air leakage testing on each and every home. These tests force air into your home and duct work and measure the potential air leaks.

High Performance Products
Once the building envelope has been completed, our effort to increse energy efficiency does not end. Evergreene is diligent in researching and implementing the very best interior and HVAC products available to ensure our homeowners are comfortable and safe all year long.
Evergreene uses low VOC paints and carpets.
Historically, the chemicals and products used in many paints and carpets would realease low level toxic emissions throughout their lifetime. As home interior technology has evolved, homeowners and builders now have the option to choose products with fewer emissions, keeping the home cleaner and safer.
Each home is equipped with a Wi-Fi enabled, programmable thermostat.
Setting a heating and cooling schedule for your home (even while away) offers homeowners peace of mind that their home is comfortable and wisely using energy. Evergreene homeowners can rest even easier knowing their heating, cooling, and water heater are all programmable and accesible from anywhere. If there’s a problem, your thermostat will tell you.
What is Low VOC?
VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds
Those compounds found in paint finishes and carpets release small amounts of toxic emmisions for long after their installation.

Evergreene homes come with Up To 17 SEER Two-Stage Variable Speed HVACs.
Typical HVAC systems have one stage and one speed, meaning it takes the same amount of energy to raise the temperature by 2 degrees as it would by 20 degrees. Its an incredible energy cost.
A two-stage variable speed HVAC operates with two settings, to use more or less energy depending on the current condition of the home. A lower setting can be used in milder weather when tempeture fluctuations are not as great. A higher speed can be used in harsher conditions where more energy is required to maintain the interior condition of the home.
Additional advantages to the two-stage variable speed is a decrease in condensation and moisture in the home as the tempeture is more evenly regulated. The system is also quieter and less disruptive, working to keep you warm and cool without you even noticing.
Evergreene uses MERV 11 Air Filters.
The MERV Scale references the size of the holes in your home’s air filter. The lower the MERV rating, the larger the holes and more particles are affecting your air quality. A standard residential air filter is rated a MERV 5 and only removes larger particles from the air in your home. In an effort to keep your home comfortable and safe, our homes use a MERV 11 which can filter tiny harmful particles. Filters with this rating are approved for use in Hospital Laboratories.
What is a SEER rating?
SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio - and is the ratio between an HVACs cooling output to the amount of electric energy it consumed in that time period.
The hight the unit’s SEER rating, the more energy efficient it is.
What’s in your air?
Or MERV 11 filters are so effective, they filter particles as small as:

A MERV 11 filter typically controls contaminants greater than 1 micron. A micron is one millionth of a milimeter.
A sheet of regular copier paper is 100 microns thick.
