Composting ‐ Stacked Box

Purpose

Creating our own compost and re-purposing previously used materials (the wooden frames that make up the boxes) helps Kenari save money instead of paying for new boxes/bins and commercial/other compost to be delivered to the farm.

Using food scraps and other composting materials that come from the farm instead of commercial compost materials is better for the health of the local natural systems.

Setting up locally created compost bins helps increase: ○ the amount of good food kenari systems produces (grown, processed) ○ the amount of soil created or nurtured

Process

Putting Together the Composting Box Step 1: Lay Out the Box’s Frames. Carry to and lay out the number of frames at desired set up location.

Note: It would be better to use gloves when handling the frames to avoid any scrapes or pinching of the hands.
